With sadness in our hearts, and with horrifying images of devastated Japan still in our minds, many of us began the First Sunday of Lent with a plaintive series of prayers called "The Great Litany." Here at the Cathedral, we sang it in procession, walking completely around the Cathedral nave, twice, before entering the altar. From The Book of Common Prayer, page 149:
"From lightning and tempest; from earthquake, fire, and flood; from plague, pestilence, and famine; Good Lord, deliver us.
... From dying suddenly and unprepared; Good Lord, deliver us.

The Resurrection: Lenten Reflections on the Easter Gospel

An accomplished group of speakers will look at treatments of the resurrection of the dead in tradition, scripture, music and the arts. The goal is to deepen our sense of how the Resurrection transforms the way we experience God and the expectations we have for our lives.
Topics and speakers include:

Middle School lock-in
Join us Saturday evening, March 19 at 7:30 p.m. as we kick off an exciting lock-in at the Cathedral. The night will be filled with games, food, movies, and lots of fun. We will also take a break from all the action for a special midnight worship service. Pick-up time is after Sunday School (10:10-11:05 a.m.) on Sunday, March 20. This is a perfect opportunity to introduce a friend to the group.

Week of Wonder registration is online!
Week of Wonder (WOW) is a creation themed Vacation Bible School centered on the Parable of the Sower.WOW is open to children who are three years old before March 1, 2011 through rising 5th graders. All participating children must be fully potty-trained. Week of Wonder will be June 6 - 10 from 9 a.m. to noon each day at the Cathedral of St. Philip. Register here from now until Wednesday, April 20. The cost is $50 per child. Late registrations will be accepted only until the program is at capacity and will incur a late fee of $30 per child. |

20s30s Sunday Brunch
The 20s30s has a scheduled brunch on the fourth Sunday of each month. 20s30s newcomers and regulars gather in the Atrium immediately following the 11:15 a.m. service. A 20s30s host leads the conversation for those gathered at nearby budget priced restaurant. The next brunch is Sunday, March 27. For questions or to volunteer to host, please email Mark Howard. |

Habitat project has begun
Our Spring 2011 Habitat project began on Saturday, March 12 and continues each Saturday through April 30, excluding Easter weekend. If you have built before, come join again. If you have never built, come be part of this exciting ministry. No skills required, just your enthusiasm. We will give you the tools and training that you need to make a contribution.
