There are many great events coming up in 2011. Be sure to check out the Torch Run Events page for upcoming events, including new additions like the Wright County Law Enforcement Torch Run Half Marathon and the Torch Run Tour!

 

Torch Run T-shirts on Sale Now!!!
2011 torch run Tshirt2011 Torch Run T-shirts are now available. Departments can sell T-shirts to co-workers, friends and family to raise funds for Special Olympics Minnesota. Funds raised through T-shirt sales will be credited to the department's fundraising totals. Departments that raise $1,000 during the Torch Run year will be featured on the back of the next year's Torch Run shirt - congratulations to everyone on the 2011 T-shirt and thank you for such wonderful support!
Final Leg/Summer Games Planning

Final Leg and Summer Games are quickly approaching which means ... it's time to start thinking about Final Leg and Summer Games! Final leg routes will be posted to the Final Leg page once received from the Leg Coordinators. If your department has never participated in a Final Leg before, it's easy to get one started in your own community! Leadership & LETR Annual Conference 
Special Olympics Minnesota is excited to announce a change in our Law Enforcement Torch Run Kick off. This September we are combining our LETR Kick Off event, with Special Olympics Minnesota's annual Leadership Conference and Distinguished Service Awards banquet into one amazing weekend! A registration fee of $25 for LETR attendees includes conference registration fee, all meals, registration materials, and a hotel room for Friday night in a double occupancy room. Check out the flyer for more details on what to expect at this exciting new event!
Get Involved in Summer Games
2011 Summer Games logo The 2011 Special Olympics Minnesota State Summer Games will have many opportunities for our Law Enforcement to get involved, including volunteer slots at the awards station, and the LETR Plaza located in Olympic Town. And don't forget the Final Leg run into Celebration Ceremonies with thousands of Special Olympics athletes, volunteers and coaches cheering you on! Check out all the ways to get involved by visiting the Torch Run events page and downloading the flyers!
Torch Run Tour 
The Torch Run tour is a brand new initiative created by Kevin Torgerson with the Olmstead County Sheriff's Department. Torch Runners are encouraged to take part in any of the events to help raise awareness for the Torch Run program. Runners will go at a 10 minute/mile pace and wear a Torch Run T-shirt. The group will also run with the Special Olympics Minnesota flag and Torch.  A list of the Torch Run Tour events are on the Torch Run Events Page. Contact Kevin Torgerson torgerson.kevin@CO.OLMSTED.MN.US for more information!
What's Old is New Again - Cop on Top 
cop on topForming a new event for the Law Enforcement Torch Run is easy and fun! Worthington PD is going to be hosting their first ever Cop on Top event at Hyvee May 26-27. Please feel free to contact Chad Trench chad.trench@somn.org or Megan Powell megan.powell@somn.org if you would like to create a new event in your community to get the word out about Special Olympics Minnesota and raise extra funds! Easy first time events include Cop on Top and Tip-A-Cop.
