G-Row Girls Medal !!
News from Coach Kaitlin Coulter

Congratulations to the girls of G-Row!!

Head Coach Kaitlin Coulter shares some exciting Row Boston news, "This past week and the weekend have been very exciting for the program. We had incredibly productive practices, and I have found that the varsity girls are continuing to find a new level of commitment. Over the weekend we went to the Cape Cod Invitational. Our novice girls 8+ had a good race, the novice girls and boys 4+ came in 4th, and our boys varsity 4+ nabbed a 4th place finish as well. The girls varsity 4+ had the highest finish of the day placing 2nd in their race!

Needless to say the coaches are all very proud of their crews and the kids are very happy with their races, which count towards our seeding at the Mass Publics Championship. We are all excited to see that our hard work is paying off and that we are continuing with a strong opening to our season. We have the next weekend off and will be gearing up for the Moose on the Malden on May 20th."

'Dam to Dam' Row-a-Thon Success!!
Thank You to Coaches and Rowers

A huge congratulations and THANK YOU to the Novice coaches and all the members of the competitive boys and girls novice teams for their amazing Row-a-Thon performance on Sunday, May 6.

Both squads took to the river in their quest to complete the fabled "Dam to Dam", a row from CRI to the Museum of Science and back. The event raised just shy of $13,000 for the CRI Outreach Programs and served to bring the novice squad into the giving-back culture that Community Rowing, Inc. was founded on.

As is tradition, the post-row celebration consisted of scrumptious vittles, courtesy of the amazing CRI parents. Great job everyone!!
CRI Annual Fund Update
2011 CRI Annual Report & 2012 Annual Fund Update

Thank you for helping to make 2011 a terrific year for CRI! The many memorable moments and milestones achieved are highlighted in the Annual Report which was recently mailed as well as posted on our website. Please check it out and read with pride about your Community Rowing!

Wonderful things are continuing in 2012: the Let's Row Boston Middle School Indoor Rowing League for urban youth was introduced this past winter; CRI Veteran rower Bryan Fuller completed a trans-Atlantic row in 34 days, achieving his goal of bringing attention to CRI's Military Veteran programs; and upcoming soon will be a "Blessing of the Fleet" for the 10 new Vespoli 8+s that have been added to the boathouse this year!

When the highly successful Boathouse Campaign ended, the need was recognized to launch an ambitious Annual Fund Campaign in order to ensure the highest quality of programming, for which CRI is recognized worldwide, as well as to maintain the beautiful new facility.

Since the Annual Fund campaign began on November 1, 2011, with an initial goal set of $150,000 from 600 supporters, there has been a resoundingly positive response with gifts received from over 200 CRI supporters bringing the fund to $120,000 - thank you!

If you have not yet had the opportunity to make a contribution to the Annual Fund please consider a gift today.

To access a copy of the 2011 Annual Report online or to make a contribution please go to our website at: www.communityrowing.org

Thank you!

Track Your Fitness This Season
Start with VO2 Max Testing

Are you looking for a personalized way to track your fitness this year? Start your season with a VO2 max test!

The test is a 10-12 minute, rowing specific, step test designed to measure your maximum aerobic power. This value indicates how much work you can do while remaining aerobic. If you are able to remain aerobic at a high workload, you will be able to continue to hold that pace for a longer period of time.

Tracking and training this system gives a rower a huge advantage over the course of a 1k or 2k race!  Each test comes with a one-on-one consultation with our exercise physiologists, Dr. Andrew Taylor from Harvard Medical School and Glen Picard from the ExPD program, who will review your data and make training recommendations based on those values.

Discounted tests are still available but are going quickly. Please contact Judith Vogel for more information!
