"James Hyde Steals the Show" films episode at CRI

James Hyde, star of "James Hyde Steals the Show" fame and his crew were on-site at CRI on March 14 filming an episode of the show which is scheduled to run in late April 2012.

As part of this reality-style internet show, James Hyde learned how to row and ultimately participated in a "race" featuring athletes from the G-Row and Boys Row Boston outreach programs. DJ Hustle Simmons from Boston radio station WJMN 94.5 also participated in the filming of the episode and raced in the competing 8+.

Both celebrities received a private tutoring session on the ergs from Coach Brent Bode prior to their on-the-water race.

Stay tuned for more information on the confirmed episode release date.

Annual Fund 2012 Update
Supporting the CRI Mission and Enriching our Community

Spring is in the air, and if you have been by the boathouse recently you will have noticed that spring flowers aren't the only ones growing! The 2012 Annual Fund has sprouted beyond the $115,000 mark! Truly, the generosity of the CRI community is in full bloom with over 200 gifts having been made to date from CRI rowers, parents, supporters, and friends. Thank you!

Every dollar contributed to CRI's Annual Fund is fundamental to sustaining our community. The fund helps provide the financial aid and scholarships that will eliminate financial barriers for learning to row on the Charles River and will help fund the adaptive and youth outreach programs which serve
more than 1,000 annually! Also, gifts will help us to upgrade and purchase equipment, and continue to develop the best coaches in the country through innovative programs like the Institute for Rowing Leadership and the ongoing Coaches Education series.

CRI's Annual Fund goal is $150,000 from 600 supporters. We're getting there but still have a way to go. Thank you if you have already made your gift to the Annual Fund! If not, please consider a gift at this time, gifts can be made online by visiting our website at www.communityrowing.org or by mail to: CRI, 2012 Annual Fund, 20 Nonantum Road, Brighton, MA 02135.
Welcome Home Bryan!!
Titan Crew Completes Atlantic Crossing

CONGRATULATIONS TO CRI ARMY VETERAN BRYAN FULLER!

Bryan completed his trans-Atlantic Row with the Team Titan crew in 34 days on March 31! The Guinness Book of World Records will recognize Bryan as the "fastest" American to row across the Atlantic Ocean. Yes, he is sore all over and 34 lbs lighter, but he achieved his goal of bringing attention to CRI programs for military veterans. Take a minute to check out one of his oars on display in the front desk area; Bryan donated this oar in honor of all the military veterans who row at CRI. Give him a pat on the back - gently -  when you see him!!

Job Well Done "Dallas"!!
Dallas Finishes Virtual Row

CONGRATULATIONS TO CRI MARINE CORPS VET ANDREW "DALLAS" ROSACKER!

With dogged determination, Dallas rowed "side by side" from CRI as Bryan crossed the Atlantic Ocean. Dallas did his job of supporting his fellow military veteran Bryan and other CRI veterans by stacking up meters on the erg at CRI, the Crash B's, and at the Bedford VA Hospital.

Although Dallas rows with only one arm, his strength is not to be matched. Dallas helps share the word about CRI programs for vets on his travels through the VA system. The Bedford VA Hospital and staff gained insight into adaptive rowing as Dallas demonstrated his talents during a recent CRI Veterans outreach event.

Thanks to Dallas, CRI has already experienced an increase in registrations of Bedford VA Hospital veterans who are currently learning to row at CRI.

Thank you, Dallas!

Row to London
US Rowing Team at the 2012 Olympics

Community Rowing is excited about US Rowing's effort to raise awareness of the US Rowing Team at the 2012 Olympics.

Row to London is a campaign designed to engage the rowing community in supporting our athletes as they train for the 2012 Olympic Games. The goal of US Rowing's Row to London campaign is twofold. First, to have every rower and fan across America become part of our team by actively supporting our athletes, and second, to build excitement as we get closer to the Olympic Rowing Events scheduled to begin in Eton, Great Britain on July 28.

The long-term objective of the Row to London campaign is to drive awareness of our sport and continue to grow our audience and increase the numbers of rowers across America.

Community Rowing is pleased to be an 'Anchor Team' in this effort to support our US athletes in the 2012 Olympics as well as joining with others in the rowing community nationwide to continue in our mission of bringing 'Rowing to All'.

Did you know that CRI has a Marathon Team of 15 runners? They are running the Boston Marathon on April 16th and have been working hard over the last several months to fundraise for CRI's G-Row (Girls-Row) Boston Program, which is an official charity of the Boston Marathon for a third year in a row.

CRI's Volunteer Marathon-Team-Trainer, Errol Yudelman, has solicited Bruce Fordyce, the legendary ultra-marathon (56 miles) runner, to travel to Boston from South Africa and speak to our community about being a high performance athlete and how his life has been impacted in a very powerful way.

CRI's G-Row Boston Program is an official charity of the 2012 Boston Marathon. Rowers and runners alike will benefit from hearing Bruce Fordyce, motivational speaker and professional athlete, share his story.

Everyone is Welcome!  Sign Up Here

Cash donation at the door: $5

All donations go directly towards Community Rowing's G-Row Boston program, an official charity of the 2012 Boston Marathon.

.
Boats and volunteers can gather at the Charles River Yacht Club at 8:00 AM for coffee and doughnuts, to get assigned areas to clean in and to be matched to available boats. The cleaning will start at 9:00 AM and end at 12:00 noon. The Charles River Yacht Club will host a pizza and soda lunch for the volunteers. The Clean Up Boat will bring extra skimmers and dispose of all the collected trash.
