The January Virtual Team Challenge Has Begun!                         CRI Needs YOUR Meters!!
Charles River in the Snow 09
Keep Yourself Warm This January by Erging Around The World With                          Our Team: Community Rowing, Inc.

The Concept 2 January Virtual Team Challenge is now underway, and CRI is off to a great start!  As reported by Jane Morse, as of 2:24 pm, we have 85 members on the team. Since January 1, the CRI team has logged 804,717 meters - that is from the boathouse west and just over the Ohio border to Ashtabula.

We're in 9th overall among rowing clubs, and second to our rivals the Croatians (with 132 rowers signed up). What will it take for CRI to claim the top spot? Meters, and lots of them!!

How about racking up some meters while watching a movie? Stay tuned for 'Movie Sundays' each Sunday in January.... great fun!

We need you to sign up for the team and log your meters and here is how you can do so:

You can sign up for the 2012 January challenge team now by visiting the Concept 2 web site (www.concept2.com) and logging onto your online logbook if you already have one, or by creating one for yourself.

Once you log-on, click on Teams at the top of the logbook page and then in the Team Challenge box, click on the highlighted area to join the challenge.

Team Name: Community Rowing, Inc.

Team Captain: Jane Morse

Basic Info can be found here: Virtual Team Challenge Information Page

Want us to go on-line and enter your meters? Then log your daily meters on a clipboard available in the erg room and we'll enter them for you.

Questions? Catch Jane at the boathouse (she'll be there erging) or e-mail her at: [email protected]

With all the erging that goes on at CRI, how can we NOT be #1 in the challenge? You just need to record and log your meters.

A note from Bryan Fuller: Please support me in my row across the Atlantic Ocean.  By supporting me you will be helping me bring attention to Community Rowing, Inc. a non-profit boat house on the Charles River that is reaching out to military and veterans to teach them to row.  This program specifically helps disabled veterans learn to row using specially designed boats to fit their needs. Community Rowing, Inc. goal is to provide disabled veterans the structure and training necessary to one day compete in the Paralympics.

My row will begin this February 2012 and start off the coast of Africa and proceed along Trade Wind I route to Barbados.  Our team, Titan, is made up of seven dedicated rowers captained by Simon Chalk, the worlds most experienced ocean rower.  The current records stands at 32 days and we have high expectations of smashing it.  Because this such a high profile event with record breaking implications, the training and support I have received from Community Rowing, Inc. will bring them the much needed private and corporate sponsorship to help keep this program afloat.

Your donations will go to help me fund my fee for my seat on the boat, all other expenses will be born by myself.  The fee is $25,000, but my expectation is that I will raise more than that.  All donations above that amount will go to fund this terrific program, (CRI's Veteran's Rowing Program.)

You will be able to follow my row online and track my progress towards Barbados.  Each member of the team will be expected to row 15 hours a day and will remain on our 34 foot long, 6 foot wide boat the whole time.  All supplies will be taken with us at the start of the race.

Thank you for supporting me and CRI's Veterans Rowing Program.

CRI  2012 Annual Fund
Supporting Our Future!
Winter 2008 - 2009 1

CRI's Annual Fund kicked off a couple of weeks ago.  This year's goal is to raise $150,000 - funds which will be used to help fulfill our mission of Rowing for All!

Funding priorities for 2012 include: a fleet of 10 new Vespoli eights, a coaching education program that improves instruction for all our programs and enhances the knowledge of coaches for clubs up and down the river, and outreach programs that introduce rowing to thousands of Boston middle school students.

During this season of giving please consider a gift to CRI's Annual Fund.  Please don't miss out on this extraordinary opportunity to share your passion to help change the lives of others with the transformative power of rowing!

Donations may be made securely online by clicking on the 'Dontate Now' button on the CRI website homepage at: www.communityrowing.org or,
