Team Group Photo

It has been an exhausting week for everybody involved - athletes, coaches and chaperones alike - but what a successful and rewarding trip at Club Nationals this past week!  On the overall club level, CRI took the Overall Points trophy away from Philadelphia's Penn AC Rowing Association, which held the title the past two years.  CRI also claimed the Women's Points trophy.  To be eligible for the overall points trophy, a club must have 35 percent of its total points from each gender.  CRI won 6 championships and wracked up a total of 269 overall points, 102 from their men's team and 167 from their women.

Additionally, CRI won both of Junior Women's bids to represent the United States at the 2011 CanAmMex Regatta at the Welland International Flatwater Centre in Welland, Ontario, Canada (August 8 - 12).  Our women's Junior A Quad and Junior A Eight, consisting of four scullers, eight sweepers and one coxswain, will be training extra hard over the next couple of weeks not just for the 2011 Canadian Henley but for the 2011 CanAmMex Regatta as well.

Quoted on US Rowing news:  "It's really exciting," said CRI head coach Ethan Curran. "These kids worked really hard.  It's a tight group and a big team, but they are all really supportive of each other, and it always means a lot to take home a team trophy. There were an awful lot of different kids who were a part of that and a lot of different kids scoring points."

Congratulations to all the athletes and their respective coaches, job well done. A special thanks to all the behind the scene support from all parent chaperones.
