2011 Celebration of Women's Rowing

Women's Rowing Event

June 12th

Celebration of Women's Rowing

8:30am to 12:00pm

On Sunday June 12th we gather to celebrate women's rowing and to thank the women's national team members who led the way to make rowing widely available.  The fun will include:

  • 8:30 row in mixed boats
  • 10:30 rowers brunch

All CRI women - both junior and senior, CRI men who support women, families and friends are welcome.

From the Suggestion Box

Suggestion

"Shades in the erg room - it gets really, really bright in the AM!"

Response

We do have long term plans for shades in the erg room, but they are REALLY expensive ($12,000+) so we're going to put off the purchase until we've taken care of erg, boats, docks, kitchen and a few other high priority items.

Suggestion

"Make a rule that one cannot take private lessons from the coach of your program to avid conflict of interest in making line-ups, at least for the comp teams."

Response

We've talked with a few of the coaches about this, and understand that there can appear to be a conflict of interest because coaches get paid for extra lessons and they spend extra time with individual athletes and may become more invested in their success.  This is a tricky one though, because there are cases where extra lessons are really important for particular athletes.  We'll keep talking about this over the course of this season, and when will consider a new policy about lessons and teams for next year.

Suggestion

"Garbage can outside."

Response

CRI keeps at least five garbage cans outside, all the way down the walkway, with a place for recycling and garbage.  We don't include any in the parking lot because they attend to attract dumpers who come and unload their car.

Suggestion

"CRI should sell fluorescent vests or shirts with the CRI logo.  They greatly improve visibility on the water."

Response

Excellent idea!  We have talked about these already, and hope to add them to our "pro shop" at the front desk this fall.  You can also buy boat lights and megaphones at a great price from our Friendly Person at the front desk.

Congratulations to Brendan Mulvey
