Junior Erg-a-thon Update

The Grand Totals are in. As of today the teams have raised the following:

$11,700

by the Varsity Girls team which is well over their original goal of $7,500

$5,500

by the Novice Girls team (and growing daily!) which is quickly approaching their original goal of $6,500

 Total of $17,200

has been raised vs. their combined original goal of $14,000, which is an amazing accomplishment by the girls on their own!

Congratulations to the Girls teams for their outstanding job!!  As they eagerly await the arrival of their hard-earned and much needed brand new Eight boat to arrive by this summer, let's now turn our attention to rooting for the Varsity and Novice Boys teams to reach their combined goal of $11,500; and of course their own brand new Eight boat as well.  Their fund raising event is scheduled to conclude on Tuesday, May 10th   ... GO BOYS ... 10K FOR YOUR OWN EIGHT ... YOU CAN DO IT TOO !!!!!

Note: We will keep the online donations (Razoo.com) for all teams open until the event conclusion on May 10th so anybody who wishes to donate can still do so over the next couple of weeks ... see links below ... Thanks!

From the Suggestion Box

#1 - Number the docks - ACTUAL NUMBERS!

Action Item
Excellent idea!. We did it! Check out the photo at the bottom of the newsletter. Thanks Seth for working so quickly to get this done.

#2 - 55lb Dumbells would be great!

Action Item

This is a timely suggestion.  Brent Bode, coach and leader extraordinaire, is just in the process of working with Wade a few of the other CRI coaches to evaluate progressive changes in the weight room.  We don't have much budget for purchases right now, but look for gradual evolution.  We're not sure if we can add heavier weights, because for individual use there the Olympic bars that can be loaded up, but we will be continue to upgrade equipment in the New Balance Weight Room.

#3 - It would be good to have a private lesson package.

Action Item
Another great idea.  We've been examining the procedures for private lesson billing in response to some members' interest in having an "account" for lessons that they draw down gradually over time.  Bookkeeping gets a bit harry around this, but we could offer a package with coupons at the front desk.  We'll continue to look at this question as time and bandwidth allow, and see if we can establish a workable, reliable system for a package deal for private lessons.  Look for news on this through the summer and fall.

If you have a suggestion please make your voice heard by submitting it. Place your anonymous note in the suggestion box by the front desk. We'll make every effort to meet your needs.

Adaptive News

Good luck to Mark Priest, one of our adaptive rowers who was invited to the USRowing Paralympic Team Development Camp in Oklahoma City this weekend. Mark joined CRI after competing in his first CRASH-Bs with the Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital ExPD program.  Mark took his first strokes in a boat just this season, but his erg time caught the attention of the USRowing Paralympic coaching staff, and was identified with potential for competing at the elite level in the trunk and arms division.  Mark leaves today for the four-day camp, where he will work with other top athletes and coaches to learn what it takes to compete at the elite level.  Good luck Mark, we are pulling for you back home at CRI.
