Updates on Program Offerings for 2011 Season

#1 - This is the first year of the Institute for Rowing Leadership at Community Rowing.  This means that many of our programs will have the added benefit of an IRL Student Intern on the coaching staff.   Interns will be actively examining the teaching process at CRI for all levels of program, from Learn to Row and General Sweeps through to our most competitive groups.  We're very excited to embark on a major learning process, and we are looking forward to improvements in coaching and programming as we reap the benefits of IRL study and investigation in our amazing community.

#2 - All Adult Full Year programs remain the same from 2010.  Pricing, number of classes and start dates are reflected from 2010.

#3 - Terms have been adjusted in many cases for Adult programs.  Start dates for Sculling have been moved later in the year because we want people to start the season in little boats in safe weather.  Terms are also matched up to the IRL teaching units, and we are excited to include interns in the teaching process to help us create stronger curriculum, safer teaching environments, and a better overall experience.

#4 - General Sweeps I and II Start Dates were originally posted for the beginning of May, but following feedback from several members we have adjusted the beginning of Term I General Sweeps I and General Sweeps II to begin with the Full Year General Sweeps program.

#5 - We have included a special discount for experienced rowers who are new to our community to encourage new people in Boston to start their rowing journey at CRI.  Priced at a level similar to our introductory program for non-rowers, we are offering first time members of Adult competitive programs a special rate of $250 for the first year.

#6 - As always, CRI offers an extensive Scholarship Program for Adult and Youth recreational and competitive programs at every level.  We never want finances to be a barrier to getting on the water.  The application process is on-line and confidential.

G-Row Training Trip

G-Row has returned from sunny, 80-degree Austin, TX!  Texas Rowing Center provided a beautiful setting on Lady Bird Lake, where the team was not only able to row, but also take advantage of a number of running trails.  We also toured the campuses of the University of Texas and St. Edwards University, and enjoyed traditional barbecue, a UT basketball game, and the local food truck culture.

Jr. Girls Training Trip

Time flies when all goes well and everybody had a successful trip this past week down in sunny Florida ... and to the best of my knowledge nobody was left behind despite the temptation to remain there until it eventually warms up here!

Thanks to our in-house Master Photographer - Gerry Roy - for utilizing all his "spare time" snapping thousands of pictures as well as several videos of the team as they go about their training (an rest time) throughout this past week.  You have several options:

  • To access and view Gerry's entire Florida Gallery, click on this link to his website, then click on the "Quick View" button on the left panel and type in the password (criflorida2011) >>> http://garoyimaging.com/
  • To watch a "must see" video of our very own CRI American Idols performed by Helena Chavez (lead singer), Emily Cetlin, Michaela Fendrock, Avery Mushinski, and Nikki Salzman, click on this link >>> http://garoyimaging.smugmug.com/WinterTraining/Florida-2011/15635535_EjN59#1197959274_A4mM3-A-LB

Jr. Boys Training Trip

The junior boys team and lady coxswains had a fantastic trip to Sarasota.

They worked hard, stayed focused, enjoyed their time off between practices (mostly sleeping) and had fun as a team.
