No More Adult Competitive Tryout Fees! For Teams which require a tryout, please go through the regular sign up process for the number of season of your choice. If at the end of the tryout period the coach determines that you require additional training, before participating in the competitive program, we will refund your full price. Discounted Fee for New to CRI Adults in the Competitive Program In an ongoing effort to communicate to everyone in Boston that there is an open door to the Charles River, CRI is offering a one year discount for the Competitive Men and Women's Team! The program fee is reduced to $250 for first time CRI participants. The only requirement is that your annual income is less than $50,000. For returning members, CRI's extensive scholarship program remains in place.
Competitive Novice Team Tryouts Keeping in mind our goal to provide rowing on the Charles River to all, the novice teams are a competitive program, whose aim is to teach young adults the fundamentals of rowing and racing. Creating a challenging yet supportive learning environment, and to foster a love of athletics is our primary concern. With that said, space on our teams is limited to approximately 50 members. Regardless of the total number of registrants, the first two weeks of practice will be used for assessment and observation of both new and returning athletes. All facets of the athletes will be reviewed, including, but not limited to their level of fitness, aptitude in a challenging environment, apparent desire and work ethic, maturity, and attitude. In the event that we have more than 50 registrants, the coaching staff will make recommendations and/or place those athletes who do not yet demonstrate a baseline aptitude in either our Learn to Row or Crew League development programs. This will give the athletes more time to develop and will prepare them for future participation in the competitive environment in which we train and race.
PLEASE NOTE THIS YEAR The Community Support Fee is Back Community Rowing was founded in 1985 dedicated to the belief that the sport of rowing provides unique abilities to promote personal and community growth through teamwork, discipline, and physical fitness. We are committed to making these opportunities available to all, thus our motto, "Rowing for All". Since founding, CRI has become one of the largest rowing programs in the United States with over 1,500 people rowing with us annually.
Located on the Charles River, an internationally recognized attraction for rowing and a gem within the Massachusetts park system, CRI was the first public rowing club in Boston and remains one of the largest in the United States. CRI is committed to its mission of enriching the greater community and provides broad based programs for youth and adults, novice to elite skill levels.
A Community Supporter receives yearlong access to the locker rooms, weight room, spin bikes, and ergs. If you own a boat you can car top it in and use our docks for launching. It also helps us keep the facility open 98 hours a week over 7 days. The community Support Fee is required of all participants, both youth and adult, who register for a rowing program. ________________________________________________________________________________
