YOU DID IT!

We could not let the opportunity pass to say one more time-THANK YOU VERY VERY MUCH FOR MAKING CRI'S $750,000 CHALLENGE GRANT A TREMENDOUS SUCCESS.

Thanks to the extremely generous outpouring of support, we successfully raised 100% of the funds needed to secure the $750,000 Challenge Grant. CRI is now positioned:
·         to pay off the boathouse,
·         create an endowment fund,
·         expand our community outreach programs and;
·          most importantly-become debt free.

None of these achievements would have been possible had it not been for the Anonymous Donor who presented us with this extraordinary opportunity and you, our more than 500 loyal members and donors who went the extra mile for CRI. It is this commitment at every level of the organization that has led us down this path of success.  THANK YOU VERY MUCH.

As part of Community Rowing Inc.'s Coaching Education Lecture Series, we welcome Jennifer Sacheck, Ph.D. for her presentation titled:

Nutrition for Optimal Rowing Performance

Back by popular demand, Jennifer Sacheck, Tufts University professor, researcher, and local nutrition guru will return for a lively presentation on eating and nourishment for rowers.  This will not be another blah, blah, blah chat about the number of CHO grams in a bagel!  Jenn will:

  • Provide real world strategies on eating well in a busy world
  • Introduce nutrient timing (nutrition before, during, and after practices)
  • Discuss how to maintain and improve lean body mass (i.e. muscles)
  • And give us healthful guidelines for vegetarian

Please join us to hear Jennifer in our upcoming monthly symposium at the Harry Parker Boathouse, and help continue to support our rowing community and the value of sharing with and learning from each other.

Date: Tuesday, April 13, 2010

Time: 7:00pm
Place: Harry Parker Boathouse (Community Rowing Inc.)
Note: Pizza and Refreshments are served after the lecture.

Jenn's Bio:

Jennifer Sacheck, Ph.D., is an Assistant Professor of Nutrition in the John Hancock Research Center on Physical Activity, Nutrition, and Obesity Prevention at the Friedman School of Nutrition Science and Policy at Tufts University. She is an active member of the American College of Sports Medicine, The Obesity Society and is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist.  In addition to her research on nutrition, fitness, obesity and muscle health, Dr. Sacheck teaches courses on Exercise Physiology and Nutrition and Nutritional Biochemistry and Physiology to graduate students at the Friedman School.   She has been an active rowing member at Union Boat Club since 1998.
