EXCITING NEWS! CRI's $750,000 Challenge Grant has generated extraordinary
fundraising momentum.

Challenge Grant Details 1st $500,000 raised and matched will go toward
paying off all construction costs associated with the boathouse-allowing CRI
to become a debt free organization.
Remaining $250,000 raised and matched will go toward
creating an endowment fund.

Three new members of CRI's Board of Directors
elected
At the annual
meeting on Thursday December 10, John Horgan and Tim Pattison were elected to
two-year terms on the board by the membership. They joined Aquil Abdullah
who was elected by the Board of Trustees as a new board member. They join
Kelley Doyle, Jamie Hintlian, Bartlett Leber, and Loryn Sheffner who were
reappointed to another term. Directors with terms expiring next year are
Ted Fields, Maura Glandorf, Tom Gonsiorowski, Mike Hyde, Lila McCain, Jane
Morse, and Peter Silberstein.
Aquil H.
Abdullah is a former US national team sculler who competed in the double sculls
in the 2004 Olympics in Athens. His international rowing credentials also
include sinning the elite Diamond Sculls at the Henley Royal Regatta at
Henley-on-Thames in the UK in 2000, the first African American man to do
so. His book Perfect Balance
tells of his quest to make the national team and his disappointment in 2000 in
narrowly missing it. Aquil resides in Boston, Mass., where he is a
software developer at Microsoft and plays a `mean saxophone'.
John Horgan was the first adaptive rower to launch from CRI's new docks a
year ago and has been a regular in both the erg room and on the water since
then. He served on the committees to plan the adaptive program and to plan
the Adaptive Erg Challenge last February. Currently he serves on the
Diversity Committee. John is a researcher for the Massachusetts House of
Representatives.
Tim Pattison's
association with CRI began in 2005 when his daughter, Rachel, started
coxing. He is Director of Real Estate at Partners HealthCare Systems were
he oversees a leased property portfolio. He serves on several boards of
non-profits.

Season of GivingLily Carbeck, a Junior Girl Rower from Belmont, is organizing a winter clothing drive for Crittenton Women's Union. Crittenton provides homes to more than 400 homeless families a year. They are in need of warm mittens, hats, and waterproof boots for women and children.
A box is located in the main lobby of CRI for donations.
