28th Annual Bayada Regatta a success for Adaptive Rowers!

On Saturday August 29th, three rowers, their families and coaches traveled to Philadelphia for their first regatta, which was an incredible success!

Aidan Porter won gold in the Men's 1x, and Kyle Smith and Colton McGrath won silver in the Men's 2x.  All three are LTR (Legs/Trunk/Arms) rowers and have all just begun rowing at CRI this year.  It was an exciting day for these young men, and all involved.

CRI was also gifted with a new boat for the program, courtesy of Mark Baiada, founder and president of the Bayada Nurses, and the man behind this regatta.  We are truly excited about the future of adaptive rowing in Boston, and fortunate to have such great members and volunteers.

CRI Rows to Gold at Henley Regatta in Ontario, Canada.

See below for August 27th Boston Globe article  featuring CRI Youth Comp Girls: Priscilla Livingston and Haley Sheldon, and CRI's Girls Varsity Coach, Ethan Curren. Livingston and Sheldon, were the first American junior women's pairs crew to win gold at the event since 1984.

CRI's junior women, including several from area communities, helped the club take all the sweep (one oar) events at the largest regatta in North America. CRI won the Junior A (under age 19) Eight and Four for the second consecutive year. The Eight's crew, which set a record for the 2,000-meter event, included Livingston at stroke, Catherine Roy of Holliston in the No. 6 seat and Katherine Ernst of Wellesley at No. 5.
"I knew before we even got to Canada we were really focused and ready to race,'' said head coach Ethan Curren of Watertown, whose assistants include Alice Taggart of Needham and Leslie Burkett of Watertown. "This group was special.''
It was a great summer for CRI's junior girls' contingent, which won three golds, three silvers and four bronze medals two weeks earlier at US Rowing's Club Nationals in Oak Ridge, Tenn. The competition included another first-place pairs finish by Livingston and Sheldon.
