CRI Rowers Cruise Through Cromwell Cup!
Another beautiful weekend for racing has passed, and with it, the Comp Women's team takes another pair of medals! Downstream at Riverside Boat Club, the host of the Cromwell Cup, were rowers competing in 1000m sprints and in a dash. First place medals were awarded to the Women's Masters C 8+, and the Women's Masters A 4+. CRI sculler Joan Nash also won the Women's Masters D 1x event. Good work, ladies! Community Rowing was well represented at the regatta, with rowers from both the Men's and Women's Competitive teams, General Sweeps II, and a host of scullers competing in 2x and 1x events. It's great to see everyone getting their race on this summer! |
CRI welcomes back youth from the West End House Boys and Girls Club for our 2009 Summer Camp Program.
 These rowing sessions have been designed by staff from both CRI and the West End House to engage boys and girls, ages 12-15 years, in learn to row classes that are fun and safe summer activity that will get them outdoors and staying fit and active. |
A SPECIAL THANK YOU FROM MT. AUBURN HOSPITAL
Dear CRI Members and Supporters, The patients at the Mount Auburn Hospital will be forever grateful for your generosity in the 20 blood donations received during today's Blood Drive held at CRI. The donations achieved today will save up to 40 lives. Because blood only stays on the shelf for 42 days we are in constant need of finding a good supply.
All of the blood donated stays here in our community going directly to the patient. Since blood cannot be manufactured, we rely on caring people like you to help our hospital meet the needs of our patients. Your continued support is what makes this wonderful community as strong as the legs we row on. Barbara Moss Blood Donor Recruiter Mount Auburn Hospital |
INVITATION TO JOIN THE HEAD OF THE CHARLES UMPIRE CORPS
Regatta dates: Friday, October 16th - Sunday, October 18th, 2009
Want a great view of the Head Of The Charles this year? Think you can ump?
The HOCR course is the most challenging headrace in the world, with narrow bridge openings, many tight turns, and lots of boats competing. Each year a corps of 125 keen-eyed umpires observes every meter of the twisting course to insure that the Head Of The Charles is safe and fair for its thousands of competitors. We invite you to join this terrific team of umpires in 2009.
We provide our umpires:
- HOCR training and certification of all new umpires via a training session held the morning of September 26th. Included is intensive training in how to evaluate interference situations;
- A final training and logistics info session on the Friday afternoon of race weekend, October 16th (starts at 5:00pm);
- Refreshments (including great early morning coffee) and lunch service via the bicycle delivery team on race weekend;
- Transportation services to and from the Cambridge Boat Club and distant umpire stations along the river;
- The opportunity to contribute to the success of the HOCR and to learn a different side of rowing as a part of the Station Umpire Teams led by experienced USRA Referees -you'll be surprised at what you don't know about successful racing on the Charles!
Interested in helping? We need volunteers with rowing experience, focus, judgment, and the willingness to invest some training time and 1-2 days "on station" to make the HOCR the best regatta possible. Please join the team.
