The New Balance Foundation Awards Community Rowing $200,000 Capital Grant
Community Rowing, Inc. (CRI) is thrilled to announce that the New Balance Foundation has awarded a $200,000 capital grant to support CRI's new Harry Parker Boathouse. The weight room in the new boathouse will be named after the New Balance Foundation. CRI began its relationship with the Foundation in 2006, when it was first awarded a $15,000 grant for G-ROW Boston. G-ROW is CRI's after school rowing and academic support program for more than 200 girls enrolled in the Boston Public Schools. Community Rowing is extremely grateful to the New Balance Foundation for its continued support of G-ROW Boston and now for its leadership gift to CRI's Boathouse for All Campaign. New Balance Foundation's $200,000 capital grant will be a tremendous boost to the campaign. We are very grateful to the Foundation and their continued investment in the Allston-Brighton community. As we envisioned CRI's Harry Parker Boathouse is not just for rowers, our new boathouse is also attracting pedestrians, joggers, and visitors to a previously underutilized portion of the Charles River. We are very excited by the interest shown in our new facility and we invite the public to visit us. CRI has raised a total of $14.7 million toward its $15.6 million goal to closeout its Boathouse for All Campaign. New Balance Foundation The New Balance Foundation is a charitable foundation established and funded by Boston-based New Balance Athletic Shoe, Inc. The Foundation's mission is to support effective charitable organizations which perform humanitarian services for the betterment of our children and our local community. There are two Lost & Found locations. This first is behind the Front Desk and the second is at the top of the stair case, next to the Meeting Room. If you have lost something, chances are it is in one of those two locations, as both bins are now overflowing with lost items.
If these items are not claimed by Thursday December 18th, KariAnne, a Comp. Women Rower and Evening Front Desk Attendant, is going to donate these items to the Goodwill this Holiday Season. In fact, at the end of each month she will make a trip over to the Goodwill to donate the lost and found items, so make sure to claim your L&F before the 19th and before the end of each month. |
