Intra-Club Halloween Fun Row was a Blast!
by Jacquie McCarthy
On Saturday there was a lot of fun, food, coffee, cider, costumes and rowing at CRI's Headless Halloween Fun Row. Twenty-four boats raced in five events and there were plenty of volunteers on hand to ensure that the morning went smoothly.  A special thanks to Chris Flynn who came up with the idea and then worked hard to make the event a success.

We had a full spectrum of participants.  Two coaches (CB Sands-Bohrer & Crista Graves) and two captains (Cheryl Egan & Rob McGurrin) rowed in the event, as did a board member (Mike Hyde).  Jonathan Arm & Anna Buehler were our dock control and "style" judges.  Awards were given for not only racing prowess, but also for best 1x costume, best 2x costume, best non-rower costume and  "best rowing style."  For a couple of scullers, this was their first race event ever!  On the volunteer front, Brian Reynolds was invaluable as our timing guru - Chris Flynn and Henriette Power were on the river in launches providing safe passage for all rowers - Diane Cotting's bow cards were fabulous.  The many bakers, dock control folks, setup and cleanup volunteers ensured a successful day.  Thanks to all!
All agreed this was a "must" event for next year - so, start working on your costume...
