Volunteers Needed for Boathouse Grand Opening              The opening ceremony for CRI's Harry Parker Boathouse promises to be an exciting evening that will include guest speakers, a ribbon cutting ceremony, live band and refreshments. As we prepare for this celebration, we are in need of volunteers to assist with the food component and to lead boathouse tours.

Volunteers to Coordinate Food
Maura Glandorf and Gail Silberstein, two former CRI parents have kindly agreed to assist with organizing the food component. At this time they are seeking  one volunteer from each program to coordinate food donations and an additional 15-20 volunteers, for set up, serving and clean up. Food is needed for approximately 500 people, so if everyone chips in it will greatly contribute towards a successful event.

CRI will provide the paper products and drinks such as coffee, cider, hot chocolate, etc. Please note that we are seeking food that does not have to be cooked or heated, and food that will not require utensils to serve or to eat. Food donations we're seeking include:

·                Cheese and crackers
·                Fruit plates
·                Finger food
·                Bite size edibles
·                Cookies

Kindly respond to this email if you are willing to be the lead person for your program or are willing to volunteer for food set up, serving and clean up. Once we have our group of volunteers we will provide additional details. If you would like to volunteer please email
Leigh@communityrowing.org   For additional questions please feel free to email: Maura@rowersedge.com  or Gail@rowersedge.com

Everyone had a great time last night at Alyson Magian's Goodbye Party.   There was a great turn out from board members, the steering committee, and CRI members!  Jane Morse, Board President and Kurt Somerville, Steering Committee Chairman both gave tributes to Alyson's 11 years of hard work and dedication to making CRI's new boathouse a reality.  Jane also announced the inception of the Alyson Magian Scholarship fund and that it has already raised nearly $8,000 in scholarship money.  Anyone wishing to acknowledge Alyson's leadership during such an historical and  critical time in CRI's history is encouraged to support the fund in her honor. To make a donation please contact Maura Hammer at maura@communityrowing.org

Everyone wishes Alyson continued success and happiness in all of her future endeavers in Maine.

On Monday, September 8th, CRI enjoyed a beautiful afternoon rowing with students from The Perkins School For The Blind, our neighbors across the river.  Photographed above are the athletes from Perkins accompanied by two Perkins staff members and two CRI volunteers, Joan Nash and Jen Feinstein.  The program will run every Monday for the next six weeks and strenghten the longstanding relationship between the two organizations.  Many thanks to Joan and Jen for getting the program off to such a great start.
