Cookout For Alyson Magian
Tuesday, September 9th at CRI
Alyson Magian, former Executive Director
Next Tuesday, CRI is hosting a barbeque to say goodbye to Alyson Magian, CRI's former Executive Director.   All CRI members are invited to join Community Rowing staff, board and campaign committee members in thanking Alyson for her 11 years of service and commitment to our organization.

It was more than a decade ago that Alyson began the ground work to secure a permanent home for Community Rowing.  We will be forever indebted to Alyson for working diligently to make our new boathouse a reality.  So please join us in wishing her well on her move to Maine and her new career at Bowdoin College.

In order to plan for the barbeque we would greatly appreciate it if members would RSVP by Friday, September 5th to: leigh@communityrowing.org.

Two CRI Parents Launch College
Recruiting Consulting Business
Rowers Edge Website
You have seen them by the river, asked them questions about races, food and guidance on the college process. Now Gail Silberstein and Maura Glandorf have joined forces to form a college recruiting consulting business called The Rower's Edge.

The Rower's Edge
is the product of both Maura and Gail's extensive involvement with CRI over the past 7 years assisting in the successful navigation of the college admissions process for their family as well as friends. Through their involvement both Gail and Maura found that parents, high school guidance counselors and independent college coaches had little or no understanding of the recruiting process and how this can impact the college search, admissions and the ultimate decisions that are required. The desire to row in college adds another level of complexity into an already stressful time.

Through The Rower's Edge, Gail and Maura provide their independent expertise to help guide and advise both the parent and rower throughout the entire college search including, but not limited to: how to manage crew in relation to the rower's other obligations; how to contact, communicate and present the rower to coaches; how to evaluate rowing programs and narrow choices and how to determine the rower's position with respect to the prospective team. They will also advise the rower on how to communicate their options and preferences to college coaches in an attempt to ensure the most favorable result while preserving secondary choices.

If you are interested in your son or daughter developing a comprehensive action plan to achieve the edge needed for a successful college recruiting process please feel free to contact maura@rowersedge.com or gail@rowersedge.com.  They are happy to answer any questions you may have.
