Where is it now?
A big thank you to all the individuals who helped move the old docks, chop them up and haul them over to the dumpster the last two weeks. We appreciate your hard work and the many splinters you most likely endured carting these huge wood pieces away. According to MJ Curry, Program Director, it was quite a process chain sawing through the thick pieces of dock, taking extra care to miss the nails. |
Goose Behavior Experiment
Take a close look at this picture. Something is missing...
You guessed it, The GEESE ARE GONE with the exception of that one stubborn goose sitting just to the left of the docks, which are now guarded by a barrier of blue buckets with ropes attached to each. These goose repellent buckets were put in place by CRI rower Roney Sebok with the help of sculler Mollie Watkins and others. Keep your fingers crossed, so far they are doing a great job. Thanks Roney for taking on this project!
Meanwhile,CRI will be conducting a sophisticated experiment in Goose Psychology over the next six weeks as we install various Geese-Be-Gone devices on the four docks. By September, we hope to have the definitive answer to the eternal question "how do rowers rowers enjoy clean docks" as well as the "what do geese hate the most: dog statues, goose repellent, automatic sprinklers, or commercial "goose-be-gone" products." |
Corporate Rowing Update
After spending only 30 minutes on the erg machines this very competitive and spirited group of 16 entrepreneurs from Entrepreneurs Organization showed their true colors by spraying their water bottles on each other as a warning for what was to come on the water. By the end of the 3 hour session these boats had no problem rowing all eight as they battled it out for "all the glory" during three intense races across the basin. In the end it was a "tie" and everyone went home happy and pretty wet.
