Welcome Back and Bon Voyage for CRI Juniors!
On behalf of CRI, Bruce Smith, Executive Director congratulates "CRI Juniors for their fantastic performance at US Club National this past weekend."  CRI had an extraordinary contingent of rowers at the biggest US summer race, with multiple finalist and medal performances. (Race Results)

Bruce "thanks the coaches for their exceptional work, as well as the amazing group of parent coordinators and chaperones moving large numbers of junior athletes around the country safely is a challenging job, and it wouldn't have happen without exceptional support and leadership!"

Good luck to the Junior Women's 8+ at the CANAMEX Games in Oklahoma next week - CRI Juniors are representing the United States at this international junior regatta.

Invitation to Join the HOCR Umpire Corps
Want a great view of The Head Of The Charles racing this year?  Think you can ump?

The HOCR course is the most challenging headrace in the world, with narrow bridge openings, many tight turns, and lots of boats competing.  Each year a corps of 125 keen-eyed umpires observes every meter of the twisting course to insure that the Head Of The Charles is safe and fair for its thousands of competitors.  We invite you to join this terrific team of umpires in 2008.

We provide our umpires:
HOCR training and certification of all new umpires via a training session held the morning of September 27th.  Included is intensive training in how to evaluate interference situations;
A final training and logistics info session on the Friday afternoon of race weekend, October 17th  (starts at 5:00pm);
Refreshments (including great early morning coffee) and lunch service via the bicycle delivery team on race weekend;
Transportation services to and from the Cambridge Boat Club and distant umpire stations along the river;
The opportunity to contribute to the success of the HOCR and to learn a different side of rowing as a part of the Station Umpire Teams lead by experienced USRA Referees-you'll be surprised at what you don't know about successful racing on the Charles!

Interested in helping?  We need volunteers with rowing experience, focus, judgment, and the willingness to invest some training time and 1-2 days "on station" to make the HOCR the best regatta possible. Please join the team.
