Next Ukulele Club/Group Meeting

When: Saturday, August 27, 2011, 1pm - 3pm Pay Now

Where: 2120 Artesia Blvd, Torrance CA 90504

Cost: $15 (I have to pay to use the space)

OK - people were asking about meeting more than once a month and I think we're going to need more room (I had to turn some folks away last time) so I've arranged for our next meeting at the date and location above. It's the old location for Island Legends, now Halau Hula O Lilinoe but the big "Island Legends" sign is still there, can't miss it; it's in the corner of this strip mall.

If you have particular requests from the Daily Ukulele book that you'd like to play or techniques you'd like to learn, please send them over! I'll do my best to incorporate as much as I can without overwhelming anyone and still have it be a fun, hang-loose time. If you want to invite your beginner-level friends, please do so - we can choose songs with easy chords (which is most of the book anyway) and focus on grooving and I can assign "parts" to those who might want something more challenging.

This next meeting should give you even more material to fool around with over the long Labor Day weekend! You can use the PayPal button above or just bring $ with you when you come but please RSVP either way.

Thanks and see you then!

PBS Presents Heart Strings: The Story of the Kamaka 'Ukulele

For nearly 100 years, Kamaka and Sons' 'ukulele, produced from their tiny shop in Honolulu, have been the gold standard for 'ukulele worldwide. This program is a story about the values of hard work, fortitude, honesty and creativity from a distinctly Hawaiian point of view. Note: plural form of 'ukulele has no "s"

For those who get KVCR's PBS station, the Kamaka Ukulele Heartstrings documentary will be re-airing on 8/20/11 at 4:30am PST.
