Aloha!
Happy Holidays!
Quick update for those of you attending the VIP Reception for the 2010 Southern California Slack Key Festival: we will be holding the Reception at the new Trader Vic's restaurant in the exciting L.A. LIVE district of downtown Los Angeles! Delzano's By The Sea in Redondo Beach is an amazing place with amazing food (if you've never been, please stop by and give them a try) and Duke's Malibu was great too, but a bit far for most folks. A big mahalo to both restaurants for having hosted previous Reception events.
The style and legacy of Trader Vic's was hard to beat though, and was hands-down a much better fit for the event overall. Owner John Valencia and I are very excited to be working together and promise to make this a night to remember for 2010 and years to come!
For any inconvenience this may have caused...first round of drinks are on us! We will keep you posted on parking and check-in details.
As always, VIP Reception guests will enjoy a special buffet, great giveaways, and the chance to meet and mingle with the 2010 Slack Key Festival artists including Cyril Pahinui, son of legendary Gabby Pahinui, Guitar Player magazine's National Guitar Superstar Competition finalist Makana, GRAMMY winner Jeff Peterson, Hawaii Music Award winner Jim "Kimo" West and one of the islands' favorite entertainers, John Cruz. The reception's fun and casual "spirit of aloha" environment always inspires impromptu performances from the artists and special guests - rare, once-in-a-lifetime "jam sessions" full of surprises and spontaneity which many attendees describe as their favorite part of the Festival experience.
There is room for just 18 more guests. If you are interested in attending, please visit www.KalaKoa.com and go to the VIP Reception page to register. These last remaining spots will be reserved on a first-come-first-served basis.
We look forward to seeing you soon. May your holiday season be a blessed one, filled with aloha!

After
much anticipation, Trader Vic's at L.A. LIVE opened its doors May 2,
2009. With its classic tiki decor, Polynesian-inspired menu and
tropical drinks, Trader Vic's has built a brand worldwide since it was
founded 75 years ago. Among Trader Vic's more tantalizing legacies is
the original Mai Tai, the bracingly refreshing rum cocktail that Trader
Vic's founder Victor Bergeron created at the restaurant in 1944 and
introduced to the Hawaiian Islands in the 1950s. Watch more here...
