New Members Named to SJF Expert Network

 

Ron Gonen, Co-Founder of RecycleBank and Adjunct Professor at Columbia Business School, has joined SJF Ventures's expert network. Ron has deep expertise in the fields of recycling and municipal sales cycles.

 

Bruce Kahn, Ph. D., is the Director and Senior Investment Analyst for Deutsche Bank Climate Change Advisors. He adds a valuable global cleantech perspective to SJF's Expert Network.

SJF Releases Annual Positive Impacts Report 

SJF conducted its eleventh annual survey of positive impacts facilitated by SJF Ventures' investments. SJF's 34 portfolio companies now employ over 8,000 individuals working at 106 facilities across 19 states in areas like reuse & recycling, energy efficiency and online philanthropy. The report illustrates how positive impacts can scale when integrated in high growth business strategies.

ERC new logoeRecyclingCorps continues its very rapid expansion of wireless device trade-in solutions and recently acquired Flipswap, Inc. to further expand their US and International market presence.  eRecyclingCorps will be receiving a Recycler of the Year award at the International Electronics Recycling Conference and Expo.  The company marked its biggest month ever in March, managing more than 550,000 mobile device trade-ins.  March 2012 trade-ins represented a 300% increase over the same period a year ago.

Rustic Crust was named a winner of the SBA National Small Business Week Video Contest.

 

   

FieldView Solutions won the Clean Technology Company of the Year award presented by the Greater Philadelphia Alliance for Capital and Technologies (PACT).The company was also named to Gartner's 2012 Cool Vendor List for Data Center Infrastructure Management (DCIM) and Related Tools report.

After being named a leading demand side platform by Forrester Research, MediaMath was recognized by a number of media organizations. One such event occurred when MediaMath's CEO, Joe Zawadzki, sat down with Fox Business News anchor Shibani Joshi to discuss the future of digital marketing.

The launch of SJF Ventures III in the first quarter of 2012 was picked up by THE WALL STREET JOURNAL, BloombergBusinessweek, The Washington Post, and more than a dozen additional publications. SJF Ventures III is the first nationally-focused investment fund to receive an unlevered SBIC license under the SBA's new Impact Investment initiative.
Venture Fair Success for Investors' Circle and SJF Institute
SJF Institute and Investors' Circle pulled off another successful Venture Fair this past April in San Francisco. A full house enjoyed presentations from 15 investment-ready opportunities in the tracks of cleantech, education, health, wellness & biotech, digital media & software, sustainable consumer products and community & economic development. Investors' Circle has an excellent track record of facilitating investment in at least 25% of the companies presenting in their Venture Fairs. These in-person events along with the Investors' Circle Virtual Venture Fairs directly support SJF Institute's mission of building the field for impact investing and connecting impact entrepreneurs with the resources required for growth.

SJF Presents at Mission Investors Exchange Conference 

On May 9, Cody Nystrom presented at the Mission Investors Exchange conference alongside Kate Starr, Investment Officer with the F. B. Heron Foundation.   The conference brought together members and supporters of the newly merged PRI Makers and More for Mission Networks attracting foundations with an interest in moving grant and endowment assets into impact investing.  Nystrom and Starr presented on Heron's continued support of SJF Ventures, including the recent announcement of their financial commitment to SJF Ventures III.  A public version of this presentation is available here.
