Ener-G-Rotors participated in Senator Gillibrand's High-Tech Showcase and won the Clean Energy Venture Summit: Re-Imagining the Built Environment.
Pace Controls announced a large scale rollout for a major retail chain serving over 3.5MM square feet of store space. BlackGold Biofuels' installation with a San Francisco waste water treatment plant began producing biodiesel and the company was named a finalist in ImagineH2O's Water Energy Competition and took second place in Global Water Intelligence's Water Investment competition. ThinkEco announced an agreement with Con Edison to develop and deploy energy-management technology for window air conditioners. Noveda won a PSE&G award for solar monitoring and was recognized us as New Jersey's enviro-energy company of the year. |

SJF Closes New Investment in Optoro
SJF Ventures has invested in Optoro, a company providing comprehensive asset recovery solutions for the distressed inventory of retailers, manufacturers and 3rd party providers. SJF's investment completes Optoro's $1.85 million Series A financing, which also includes QED Investors and Phil Pfeffer of Treemont Capital.

SJF Realizes Exit with MedPage Today
SJF Ventures' portfolio company MedPage Today was acquired by Everyday Health in December. The partnership will strengthen MedPage's position as the leading provider of online breaking medical news for healthcare professionals. SJF Ventures and Milestone Venture Partners have exited their investments in MedPage as part of the transaction. SJF participated in MedPage's only institutional investment, which took place in March 2007. The sale has generated a successful outcome for all shareholders: Founder and CEO, Bob Stern; investors; and employees.

Celebrating Success of SJF Institute's First Cleantech Mentorship Program
The SJF Institute's 2010 Cleantech Mentorship Program will conclude with its final session on January 26th. The program started one year ago with funding from Citi Foundation and sponsorship from Reitler Kailas, ACRE NYU-Poly, Mintz Levin, and Articulate Communications. The SJF Institute teamed nine early stage cleantech entrepreneurs with ten successful serial entrepreneurs and advisors and ran six workshops throughout 2010 including "Presenting to Investors and Raising Capital," "Managing Growth and Effective Leadership," and "Driving Sales and Effective Marketing." We would like to congratulate the Entrepreneur Fellows and thank the Mentors for their work and commitment over the last twelve months.

SJF Personnel Updates and Awards
Arrun Kapoor has been promoted to Managing Director. Arrun joined SJF Ventures in 2008 and leads the firm's New York office. He has led SJF's investment in FieldView Solutions and actively supports portfolio companies Truist and ServiceChannel. Arrun has also spearheaded SJF's CleanLinks program and Cleantech Mentorship Program.
SJF also welcomes additional student team members. Tim Canavan, pursing a joint Masters at Duke's Fuqua School of Business and Nicholas School of the Environment, will serve as a Venture Fellow for SJF Ventures in 2011. Megan Walsh, also a Fuqua MBA candidate, is helping as an SJF Intern. Bhairvee Shavdia, a Columbia Business School student, and Amit Shah, a Stanford Graduate School of Business student, are also supporting SJF Ventures with project work. A special note of congratulations to David Kirkpatrick who was recognized by UNC Kenan Flager Business School as the Executive MBA Alumni of the Year on November 5, 2010. Kirkpatrick will also be speaking as a panelist at the PwC Shaking the Money Tree breakfast event on February 18th in Raleigh as well as a cleantech panel at the Wall Street Green Summit in NYC on March 29th. |
