SJF Cleantech Mentorship
SJF Cleantech Mentorship Program Accepting Applications
SJF is pleased to announce the launch of our SJF Cleantech Mentorship Program which will take place in New York starting in January 2010, with support from the Citi Foundation. This program provides a unique opportunity for cleantech entrepreneurs to accelerate the growth of their companies by engaging with experienced entrepreneurial and industry leaders. The program will include guidance and feedback to early stage ventures from experienced mentors, peer-to-peer discussions, educational sessions, networking events, access to SJF's cleantech network, and input from a strategy roundtable on a key strategic issue. 

The nine-month program will begin in January 2010 and conclude in the fall of 2010; program events will be held in New York. We are currently recruiting entrepreneurs and mentors, as well as sponsors. The deadline to fill out the simple online application is November 16. Click here to learn more and apply

SJF and NCSEA are working with North Carolina sustainable energy business leaders to encourage NC's congressional delegation to pass federal legislation to "create clean energy jobs, reduce global warming pollution, achieve energy independence, and provide a transition to a clean energy economy." In addition, SJF's Cody Nystrom and Arrun Kapoor were part of a business delegation that lobbied on Capital Hill on October 7 on behalf of clean energy legislation.
groSolar logogroSolar and FLS Energy Project at SAS Announced 
SJF Ventures portfolio company groSolar, along with FLS Energy, was recently selected to develop a 1.2 megawatt capacity solar farm at SAS, a Cary, NC business analytics software and services company. This solar farm with be the second for SAS and will generate an estimated 1.9 million kilowatt hours annually which is enough to power 200 homes. Read more

REBN Events in NY and RTP Again Successful
On October 1, SJF hosted the most recent REBN-NY event. The program included a panel that discussed energy/climate legislation in Washington, the status of stimulus fund allocation, and how entrepreneurs can best access these funds. The event welcomed approximately 250 cleantech business professionals. On October 22, SJF hosted a REBN-RTP happy hour event at the West End Wine Bar in Durham, NC with more than 150 clean energy business representatives in attendance.
