Alan KelleySJF Launches San Francisco Office
SJF Ventures has opened an office in San Francisco. Located at 101 California Street in the heart of the financial district, the office will be staffed by SJF Managing Director Alan Kelley (pictured at right). SJF Managing Director David Kirkpatrick will be based in SJF's New York office from September - December 2009, along with NYC-based SJF Senior Associate Arrun Kapoor. SJF now invests and assists high-growth, positively innovating ventures throughout the U.S. from its offices in Durham, NC, New York, and San Francisco.
 
SJF Moves to Green, Historic Building in Durham, NC
We are excited to be moving SJF's Durham headquarters office to Rogers Alley, an historic property located at the corner of Mangum and Parrish Streets in downtown Durham that was recently renovated to LEED Silver standards by Greenfore Development.  Our new address will be 200 North Mangum St., Suite 203, Durham, NC 27701. Our telephone number will remain the same: 919-530-1177. Greenfire is a leading green developer based in Durham.

SJF Personnel Updates
Navlyn Wang has joined SJF as Summer MBA Associate intern in the New York office. Wang is pursuing a Master of Business Administration at the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania. She was most recently a Senior Associate Consultant with Bain and Company and has also worked with Dalberg Development Advisors assessing energy supply options for Turkey, Saudi Arabia, and Egypt.

, a portal for corporate charitable giving programs, has announced its new CEO, William B. Horne. Mr. Horne previously served as President and Chief Executive Officer of Valutec, as well as President and CEO of Cignify Corporation. He was most recently engaged with Sopris Capital Associates as an operating partner while also serving as Chairman of the Board of Directors for Truist. Read More ...

Salvage Direct, which facilitates the efficient sale of salvage vehicles from auto insurers to licensed vehicle dismantlers via on-line auction, has opened a new facility in Cleveland, Ohio.  The new yard is Salvage Direct's latest in its rapid expansion into the Midwest. Read More ...

REBN RTP Launches Successfully; REBN NY April 29
Following the continued success of REBN NY, SJF Ventures, in partnership with the Council for Entrepreneurial Development, has organized a chapter of the Renewable Energy Business Network in North Carolina. REBN Research Triangle was launched on April 14 following the State's Sustainable Energy Conference with more than 80 registrants. The next REBN RTP event is scheduled for late June with more details to come in May; contact Cody Nystrom at cnystrom@sjfund.com for more information. Anne Claire Broughton will attend the National Center for Employee Ownership/Beyster Institute 2009 Employee Ownership Conference this week in Portland, OR from April 22-24. David Griest will attend the Clean Technology Conference and Expo on May 4-7 in Houston.
