SJF portfolio company groSolar, a national solar energy firm, has secured $10 million in a series B financing led by NGP Energy Technology Partners, L.P. that will enable the company to continue growing rapidly.

 

SJF Ventures led the series A round for groSolar in October 2006 with co-investors Calvert Social Funds and Allco Financial Group.  SJF and all the series A investors participated in the series B financing. Read More ...

SJF Personnel Update
Arrun Kapoor will join SJF as a Senior Associate in the New York office in February 2008, working with SJF Managing Director Alan Kelley.  Arrun was most recently with Bain & Company in London and Delhi.  He worked with the firm's Private Equity Practice and gained experience in a range of cleantech-related industries.  Arrun holds a Master's in International Political Economics from the London School of Economics and completed a BA from New York University with an economics and business focus. SJF welcomes 2008 Venture Fellow, Justin Gravatt, an engineer with experience at Cherokee Investment Partners and Motorola who will receive his MBA from UNC's Kenan Flagler Business School in 2009. Laith Kalamchi is serving as SJF MBA Associate in the NY office. He has experience from Accenture and MBNA America Bank N.A. and is in business school at Columbia. Master's interns Jared Kapela, Angelique Xanthopoulos, and Hannah Polikov are assisting SJF with cleantech innovation research.
