Vision statement

Jesus in Love supports lesbian, gay, bi trans and queer  (LGBTQ) spirituality, with an emphasis on art and literature. It promotes artistic and religious freedom and teaches love for all people, regardless of sexual orientation or gender identity. It is based on these beliefs: God loves all people, including sexual minorities. The creative process is sacred. The queer visions, especially the gay Jesus and LGBT saints, will free people to experience the divine in new ways and lead to a more just world.

Greetings!
Happy LGBT Pride Month! The movement for freedom began at Stonewall and continues in the art and writing here. I'm especially proud to present historical paintings of Stonewall by Sandow Birk.
Artist paints Stonewall's LGBT history

Battle of Stonewall by Sandow Birk
Queer people battle police in paintings of the Stonewall riots by California artist Sandow Birk.  The June 1969 uprising launched the LGBT rights movement.

"As an artist, the Stonewall Riots were the perfect subject - transvestites battling cops in riot gear on horses?! Who doesn't want to paint that?! Drama, chaos, and social justice all in one go!" Birk says in a new interview. More info

Swedish cathedral gets LGBT altar

LGBT altar by Elisabeth Ohlson Wallin

Sweden's first LGBT altar was donated to 1,000-year-old Skara Cathedral by artist Elisabeth Ohlson Wallin on May 19. That day it served as the backdrop for the first same-sex wedding in the cathedral's 1000-year history.

"I gave the church the altar as a gift. Now we are waiting for the church to accept the gift or no," she said. More info

Jesus Returns to God by Douglas Blanchard

New essays explore 6 images of the risen Christ in "The Passion of Christ: A Gay Vision" by Doug Blanchard.  The series shows Jesus as a gay man in a modern city.  With new text by Kittredge Cherry, the last images look at Ascension, Pentecost and a gay glimpse of paradise.

These are some of the most creative, uplifting and outright queer images in  the series. Click the titles for more info:
