Our Vision
Jesus in Love serves lesbian, gay, bi trans and queer  (LGBTQ) people who have spiritual interests, and our allies. We promote queer spirituality and the arts, with an emphasis on books and images. We believe that God loves all people, including sexual minorities. We believe that the creative process is sacred. We hope that the new visions, especially the gay Jesus and queer saints, will free people to experience the divine in new ways and lead to a more just world.
Greetings!
Today on Palm Sunday many LGBT people can relate to the hurt and humiliation that Jesus experienced on the cross.  May this newsletter also call us to the new life promised by Easter.
Gay Passion of Christ series starts today

Jesus Before the Priests by Douglas Blanchard
Jesus Before the Soldiers by Douglas Blanchard A gay vision of Christ's Passion starts today at the Jesus in Love Blog. New posts will run daily through Easter.

The series includes all 24 paintings in Douglas Blanchard's "The Passion of Christ: A Gay Vision," with new text by Kittredge Cherry and a short Bible passage.  The paintings show Jesus as a contemporary gay man in a modern city.

Biblical queens inspire LGBT writers

Two women in scarves from Schaver.com
Differences between Biblical queens Esther and Vashti inspire LGBT writers. Lesbian playwright Carolyn Gage imagines their love story in her play "Esther and Vashti," and Rev. David Bahr considers both queens as role models for gays and lesbians called to ordained ministry in his D.Min. paper. More info

Jesus heals gay centurion's boyfriend

Healing the Centurion's Servant
Jesus praised a gay soldier as a role model of faith and healed his male lover in the gospels, according to many Bible experts.

Both Matthew 8:5-13 and Luke 7:1-10 tell how a centurion asked Jesus to heal the young man referred to in Greek as his "pais." The word commonly meant the younger man in a same-sex relationship. More info

One day, two processions;
One meek, an arriving Lamb,
    soothing, offering Grace;
The other, Dreadful Power
    speaking intimidation.
One died, and thus lives on.
The other lived on, but now is gone.
