Our Vision
Jesus in Love serves gay, lesbian, bi and trans (glbt) people who have spiritual interests, and our allies. We promote queer spirituality and the arts, with an emphasis on books and images. We believe that God loves all people, including sexual minorities. We believe that the creative process is sacred. We hope that the new visions, especially the gay Jesus and queer saints, will free people to experience the divine in new ways and lead to a more just world.
With the 9/11 anniversary and the King Memorial, many people are remembering the past now. Here we honor LGBT "saints" Mychal Judge and Bayard Rustin... and take a fresh look at Mary.

10 years later: Gay saint of 9/11

Mychal Judge by Robert Lentz Mychal Judge, gay chaplain to New York firefighters, died helping others in the Sept. 11 attack on the World Trade Center.

"Ten years later, the names and faces of the terrorists have faded away for many of us, but Mychal's image remains. His selfless act that day continues to shine the light of God's presence in the face of despair." -- from "Mychal's Prayer," a new book by Salvatore Sapienza. More info

Bayard Rustin: Gay civil rights hero
Bayard Rustin
When a new memorial is dedicated to Martin Luther King Jr. in Washington this fall, let us also remember Bayard Rustin, the black gay man who was a close adviser to King.

Rustin was the chief organizer of the 1963 March on Washington, where King gave his famous "I Have a Dream" speech.  More info

Mary's feast has lesbian-goddess roots

Assumption of Mary by Guido Remi Mary's Feast of the Assumption is a major church holiday with lesbian roots.  It comes from an ancient Roman festival for woman-loving goddess Diana (Artemis), the virgin goddess of the moon and the hunt.

Did the Pope beatify a gay saint?

John Henry Newman by William McNichols Cardinal John Henry Newman was beatified last year while the media buzzed with questions such as  "Will the Pope canonize a gay saint?"

The Catholic Church tried to downplay Newman's loving relationship with priest Ambrose St. John, but went ahead and beatified him despite questions about his homosexuality.  More info
