Our Vision
Jesus in Love serves gay, lesbian, bi and trans (glbt) people who have spiritual interests, and our allies. We promote queer spirituality and the arts, with an emphasis on books and images. We believe that God loves all people, including sexual minorities. We believe that the creative process is sacred. We hope that the new visions, especially the gay Jesus and queer saints, will free people to experience the divine in new ways and lead to a more just world.
Greetings!
Happy LGBT Pride Month! We're celebrating with articles on Lady Gaga, John McNeill, Hunky Jesus, Joan of Arc and more. Enjoy!

The queer spirituality of Lady Gaga

Gay priest John McNeill shakes up Rome

John McNeill
Pioneering gay priest John McNeill is still shaking up the Vatican at age 85. He went to Rome for the world premiere of a new documentary about his life on June 6 at EuroPride 2011 -- and to ask the Vatican for LGBT justice.

When in Rome, McNeill will not do as the Romans do, but instead will advocate change in the Roman Catholic church.

Joan of Arc: Cross-dressing warrior-saint

St. Joan of Arc by Robert LentzJoan of Arc was a cross-dressing teenage warrior who led the medieval French army to victory. This queer icon and girl-power hero was killed for wearing men's clothing by the church that later made her a saint.

Joan's belief that God was the source of her gender-bending queerness makes her an especially inspiring role model for LGBT people of faith. More info

Hunky Jesus contest: Fun or offensive?

Hunky Jesus contestThe Hunky Jesus contest is packed with living, breathing gay Jesuses -- or "Jesi," as they are called. It's held every year by the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence, a group of "queer nuns" who do street theater for charity.

Naturally the Hunky Jesus contest offends the religious right.  But even some gay Christians are denouncing it in the news media this year. More info and photos

Saints of Stonewall honored

It was Beautiful by Douglas Blanchard
LGBT people fought back against police harassment in June 1969 at the Stonewall Inn, launching the LGBT liberation movement.

They are honored here as "saints of Stonewall" because they had the courage to battle an unjust system. They did the miracle of turning self-hatred into self esteem. More info
