Our Vision
Jesus in Love serves gay, lesbian, bi and trans (glbt) people who have spiritual interests, and our allies. We promote queer spirituality and the arts, with an emphasis on books and images. We believe that God loves all people, including sexual minorities. We believe that the creative process is sacred. We hope that the new visions, especially the gay Jesus, will free people to experience the divine in new ways and lead to a more just world.
Greetings!

2010 is off to a strong start for GLBT spirituality and the arts.  Even a professor's blasphemy charge couldn't stop a queer Jesus photo project -- it actually attracted support!  Read all about it, plus the year's top stories, new GLBT saints, and more.

St. Brigid loved her female soulmate

Sts. Brigid and Darlughdach by Robert Lentz
St. Brigid and her soulmate St. Darlughdach were 6th-century nuns who brought art, education and spirituality to early medieval Ireland.

They were so close that they slept in the same bed. Brigid shares her name and feast day (Feb. 1) with a Celtic goddess -- and she may have been the last high priestess of the goddess.  More info

Blasphemy charge aids queer Jesus art

Equal Means Equal Jesus by Bill Burch
Charges of blasphemy by an art school professor gave a big boost recently to an alternative Jesus photo project by Bill Burch of Colorado.

A conservative Christian professor harassed  Burch's models and threatened to "shut down" his project, which includes GLBT and female Jesus photos.  The effort had the opposite effect, inspiring many more students to volunteer as models!  More info

Epiphany: Three kings or three queens?

Epiphany by Janet McKenzie Reimagining the three kings as queer or female gives fresh meaning to Epiphany, a holiday celebrating the visit of the Magi to the infant Jesus.

New visions include a controversial painting of female Magi and Biblical scholarship suggesing that the Magi were eunuchs -- people who today would be called gay or transgender. More info

David and Jonathan: Love between men

Jonathan & David by Robert Lentz Intense love between men is celebrated in the Biblical story of David and Jonathan -- and by gay-positive artists today.

The couple's powerful love story shows that gay relationships are affirmed and blessed by God.  Many people honor David and Jonathan as gay saints.  More info
