Our Vision
Jesus in Love serves gay, lesbian, bi and trans (glbt) people who have spiritual interests, and our allies. We promote queer spirituality and the arts, with an emphasis on books and images. We believe that God loves all people, including sexual minorities. We believe that the creative process is sacred. We hope that the new visions, especially the gay Jesus, will free people to experience the divine in new ways and lead to a more just world.
Greetings!

Kitt Cherry with poinsettiaMerry Christmas from Kittredge Cherry and JesusInLove.org!

We wish you a wonderful holiday season and the best of new years.

Below is a selection of holiday treats from the Jesus in Love Blog.  Enjoy!

Good (Gay?) King Wenceslas

St. Wencelaus and Podiven by Lewis Williams
There's good reason to believe that Good King Wenceslas was gay.  Yes, the king in the Christmas carol.

The carol is based on real historical figures, a Bohemian duke and his loyal page.  Dennis O'Neill, author of "Passionate Holiness," shares his research on the loving relationship between the two men.  More info

LGBT nativity video: love makes a family

2 Marys and 2 Josephs with baby Jesus
What if the child of God was born to a lesbian couple... or a gay couple?  Because, after all,  LOVE makes a family, including the Holy Family.

JesusInLove.org made a new video of gay and lesbian nativity scenes.

"They are true to the Christmas story: God's child conceived in an extraordinary way and born into disreputable circumstances," says founder Kittredge Cherry.

Xmas scene from Transwoman Jesus play

Jesus, Queen of Heaven poster
Jesus' angelic birth highlights the holiness of EVERY birth in a scene from the controversial new play "Jesus, Queen of Heaven" by Jo Clifford (formerly John Clifford).

As a special Christmas gift, Jo agreed to let the Jesus in Love Blog post an excerpt from her play, which was protested by 300 Christian conservatives last month at its premiere in Scotland.  They were upset because Jo presents Jesus as a transsexual woman.

Jesus tells Christmas story to animals

Peaceable Kingdom by Edward Hicks Jesus tells the Christmas story to animals in a scene from "Jesus in Love: A Novel" by Kittredge Cherry:

"Animals were with me when I was born. There were some like you...and you...and you." I pointed at the sheep, the goats, the donkeys, and the oxen. "After I was born, I slept in a manger, a place where animals ate their food."

"Food!" Everyone was interested in this part of my story...

"You are like food. You make me feel good," Old Snake said to me, and the others sounded their agreement.  Read more

Lesbian couple portrays Madonna

Annunciation by Elisabeth Ohlson Wallin The Madonna and her female lover are portrayed by a real lesbian couple, seven months' pregnant through artificial insemination in "Annunciation" by Elisabeth Ohlson Wallin.

It is part of AltXmasArt, a show of alternative Christmas art at the Jesus in Love Blog.  Nine artists mix Christmas imagery with a progressive vision of GLBT rights, racial and gender justice, and a world without war, poverty or pollution.  See the show
