Our Vision
|
Jesus in Love serves gay, lesbian, bi and trans (glbt) people who have spiritual interests, and our allies. We promote queer spirituality and the arts, with an emphasis on books and images. We believe that God loves all people, including sexual minorities. We believe that the creative process is sacred. We hope that the new visions, especially the gay Jesus, will free people to experience the divine in new ways and lead to a more just world.

Saints bring hope on World AIDS Day
On World AIDS Day (Dec. 1) we offer support by posting "Patrons of the AIDS Pandemic" by Lewis Williams. The icon shows two pairs of medieval male saints who faced epidemics together with friendship and faith. Their man-to-man bond speaks to the gay community. 300 protest transsexual Jesus play
More than 300 conservative Christian protesters picketed a play about a transsexual Jesus recently in Glasgow, Scotland. Waving signs and singing hymns, they blocked traffic for two hours on opening night of "Jesus, Queen of Heaven." The play was written and performed by Jo Clifford (formerly John Clifford), whose stated goal was to create greater understanding of transgendered people like herself. Advent: From a closet fertilized by hope
We celebrate Advent with a prayer from " Equal Rites ": The closet may be a fertile place: creativity bursts out of a lonely hell, and from a closet fertilized with hope, the spirit leaps from a monastic cell. Those born in darkness have seen life. More info |
Harvey Milk, gay rights pioneer
Harvey Milk has became the public face of the GLBT rights movement since his assassination 31 years ago. He was the first and most famous openly gay male elected official in California, and perhaps the world. "If a bullet should enter my brain, let that bullet destroy every closet door in the country," Milk said. In 2009 he got the Presidential Medal of Freedom, and California designated his birthday (May 22) as Harvey Milk Day. We are GLBT pilgrims
It's never too late to be thankful!
Check out our Thanksgiving post with this prayer: "We celebrate the vibrance and diversity of lesbian and gay pilgrims. We're everywhere. Every day. And we are forever the pilgrims in this land...."
