|Jesus in Love serves gay, lesbian, bi and trans (glbt) people who have spiritual interests, and our allies. We promote queer spirituality and the arts, with an emphasis on books and images. We believe that God loves all people, including sexual minorities. We believe that the creative process is sacred. We hope that the new visions, especially the gay Jesus, will free people to experience the divine in new ways and lead to a more just world.
With this issue, we remember the heroism of a gay priest who died on 9/11. We remember the need to march for equality. We remember the joy of uniting sexuality and spirituality.
|Gay saint of 9/11: Mychal Judge
A gay priest is considered a saint by many since his heroic death in the Sept. 11 terrorist attack on the World Trade Center in 2001. Father Mychal Judge, chaplain to New York City firefighters, responded quickly when Muslim extremists flew hijacked planes into the twin towers.
Praying at the scene, he was struck and killed in a storm of flying steel and concrete. Later his friends revealed that he considered himself a gay man. More info

|Professor meets Jesus as lover|
Gender studies professor Hugo Schwyzer
had an unforgettable homoerotic dream after he prayed for Jesus to come and
"hold me like a lover."
In a powerful blog post, Schwyzer
describes the dream and concludes, "If we take Him seriously as 'closer
than a brother,' then we need to see Him in our sexuality as well. For some of
us, that will simply mean learning to face Jesus without shame... And for some of us, gay and
straight, men and women alike, it means a willingness to embrace Him as the
truest and best of lovers." More info
