Our Vision
|
Jesus in Love serves gay, lesbian, bi and trans (glbt) people who have spiritual interests, and our allies. We promote queer spirituality and the arts, with an emphasis on books and images. We believe that God loves all people, including sexual minorities. We believe that the creative process is sacred. We hope that the new visions, especially the gay Jesus, will free people to experience the divine in new ways and lead to a more just world.

Greetings!
We're getting back to basics with more gay Jesus and LGBT Christian art in this issue. Enjoy! |
British video jests about gay Jesus
A British comedian created "Was Jesus gay?" as a comedy video, but most of it makes good sense to LGBT Christians. The popular video features Pat Condell. He begins with some well-deserved barbs against the Church for mistreating gays. Then Condell states, "I've heard it suggested from some people that Christians are so irrationally obsessed with this subject because deep down they're terrified that Jesus himself might have been gay." After that it just keeps getting better. More info Watch video |
Art honors love between women
Love between two Biblical women is celebrated in "Whither Thou Goest" by Atlanta artist Trudie Barreras.
The painting shows Ruth pledging her love to Naomi. Her famous vows are often used in heterosexual weddings. Few people realize that these beautiful words were first spoken by one woman to another: "Whither thou goest, I will go..."

Gay artist says Jesus never married
Jesus supported love, but not marriage, according to a thought-provoking new poster by gay artist Dirk Vanden. Vanden says that he creates artworks such as "Jesus Never Married" to help LGBT people who are "seeking equality, legitimacy, legality -- acceptance -- of ourselves and our unions and families." Gay marriage is nothing new
Lesbian Christian author Kittredge Cherry recently found an article titled "Marriage Between Homosexuals is Nothing New for Some in S.F" -- from 20 years ago. She and her partner were interviewed in the Los Angeles Times article. "Wow, same-sex marriage wasn't even new to us way back in 1989," she says today. "It sure seems like it should be legally recognized now!" More info |
