Our Vision
Jesus in Love serves gay, lesbian, bi and trans (glbt) people who have spiritual interests, and our allies. We promote queer spirituality and the arts, with an emphasis on books and images. We believe that God loves all people, including sexual minorities. We believe that the creative process is sacred. We hope that the new visions, especially the gay Jesus, will free people to experience the divine in new ways and lead to a more just world.
Let's keep celebrating GLBT freedom even after the Pride marches of June are over.  Draw inspiration from a gay artist's visions of Jesus, Poland's coming-out movement and other news in this issue.
Gay artist paints inspiring Jesus
Take Away the Cross by Dirk Vanden
A gay artist's inspired paintings of a naked Jesus are the newest additions to the Jesus in Love image archive.
The two images were painted by Dirk Vanden, who is also the author of three early gay novels

Take Away the Cross (left) shows Jesus dancing beneath a glorious sunburst in the midst of a cross.  Some of the artist's favorite rock stars are in the crowd around him.

Poland gets its first coming-out guideComing Out Polish book cover

Poland's first coming-out guide for gay men and lesbians will hit the market soon.  It is a Polish translation of Kittredge Cherry's  classic coming-out guide.

Helion Press, a major publisher in Poland, has just finished the cover design (left) for the Polish edition of Hide and Speak: A Coming Out Guide.

The book ties in with a surge in Polish GLBT pride, which was covered in an in-depth PBS television report recently.  More info
Signs of pride: "Maybe Jesus was gay!"Gay Pride march

Church members carried a sign saying "Maybe Jesus was gay!" at the San Diego Pride march, according to a tip sent by a Jesus in Love supporter.

Does anybody have a photo of it?  If so, please contact us so we can share it in our next newsletter.

Queer authors do lively video interview
James St. James and Kitt Cherry
A fabulous drag-queen is interviewed by lesbian Christian author Kittredge Cherry in a new video.

St. James is the author of Freak Show, a novel for teenagers about a teen drag queen who explodes into a conservative high school.  The theme has spiritual resonance, and St. James' exuberance makes this video well worth watching.  See the video or get more info.
