Our Vision
Jesus in Love serves gay, lesbian, bi and trans (glbt) people who have spiritual interests, and our allies. We promote queer spirituality and the arts, with an emphasis on books and images. We believe that God loves all people, including sexual minorities. We believe that the creative process is sacred. We hope that the new visions, especially the gay Jesus, will free people to experience the divine in new ways and lead to a more just world.
Greetings!
This month the best GLBT books are honored with Lammy awards -- while conservatives fail to see the humor in a gay Jesus music video. And the Post Office vetoes a gay-marriage stamp.  Read on...
GLBT authors laugh, cry and get awards
Malcolm Boyd and K Cherry at Lammys 5-29-08
Malcolm Boyd and Kittredge Cherry joined other GLBT authors at the Lambda Literary Awards ceremony May 29.  Boyd, Episcopal priest and best-selling author, received a Pioneer Award.

Kitt's book Art That Dares: Gay Jesus, Woman Christ, and More was a finalist in the LGBT arts and culture category.  Unfortunately, her book didn't win a Lammy, but just being there was huge!

Obama aide blasted for gay Jesus videoJesus Christ: the musical

An Obama advisor is in trouble for showing a humorous music video of a gay Jesus.

A near-naked Jesus swishes down Hollywood Boulevard to the tune of "I Will Survive" by Gloria Gaynor -- then meets a surprise ending. "Jesus Christ: The Musical" made me laugh when I first saw it, even though I'm a Christian.  Now conservative Christians are attacking an Obama aide for showing the it.  See the video or get more info.
Gay marriage stamp censored
Gay marriage stamp by Perry Hoffman
An artist's design for a stamp honoring gay marriage was rejected by the U.S. Postal Service in an act of political censorship.

Gay artist Perry Hoffman designed the stamp to commemorate the California Supreme Court's May 15 decision to allow same-sex couples to get married.

The stamp was rejected based on a policy against "partisan or politcal" material.  More info
Lammy finalists do lively reading
K Cherry at Lammy finalists reading 5-8-08
Watch Kittredge Cherry discuss censorhip of queer Christian art in the video of the recent Lambda Literary Award finalists reading in West Hollywood.

An enthusiastic audience listened as Kitt read from Art That Dares: Gay Jesus, Woman Christ, and More, which was a finalist in the LGBT Arts and Culture category.
