Beginning Investigations into the Housing of Slaves in New York State,
1620-1827

This presentation will examine how slavery impacted the design and construction
of early New York homes and discuss the spaces typically inhabited by slaves --
basement kitchens such as those found in the Jean Hasbrouck, Bever-Elting and
Abraham Hasbrouck Houses, the kitchen wing, and the "summer" kitchen, which
once existed behind the LeFevre House. $7 per person. $5 for
