Re-Scheduled Painted Ladies Tour on 10/17
Weather forced the postponement of our Painted Ladies of the Village walking tour earlier this month. Fear not, though, because the event has been re-scheduled for Saturday, October 17th at 10am. This 120 minute walking tour will begin with our own painted lady, the Deyo House, and continue into downtown New Paltz. Learn about the architecture and stories behind some of the most interesting buildings in New Paltz. The tour leaves at 10am from the DuBois Fort Visitor Center. Register online or purchase your ticket at the beginning of the tour. $12 or $10 for Friends of Huguenot Street. |

Locust Lawn: Feeling the Love
Locust Lawn is in the spotlight for October. Thanks to support from the O'Connor Foundation and the Hasbrouck Family Association -- a recent donation of materials and technical assistance from Benjamin Moore -- the 1814 Josiah Hasbrouck House at Locust Lawn is getting repainted.
We're celebrating by opening this house and the neighboring Terwilliger House for special Fall's Bounty Tours every Saturday and Sunday at 2:30 through November 1st. Tours are $8 per person or can be combined with a tour at Historic Huguenot Street for a discount. Friends of Huguenot Street are free.
In addition, on Sunday, October 18th at 1pm, HHS presents a "walk and talk," The Bare Bones of Locust Lawn. Two hundred years ago, Josiah Hasbrouck set out to make a statement -- the result was the grand 1814 home that bears his name. It was a feat that stretched local building know-how at the time. Together, we'll go behind the scenes to see how the "bones" of this magnificent house have stood the test of time. If there is interest, we'll also visit the Terwilliger House and the barns. $10. $8 for Friends of Huguenot Street.

| HHS on the Web: Lori O'Toole
I think many would agree that Historic Huguenot Street is a distinctly beautiful and unique place -- and a place filled with good fortune stretching back over 300 years. What better place for a wedding or even wedding photos. Photographer Lori O'Toole agrees and features gorgeous photos from a recent wedding that pair the timeless stability of our homes with the optimism and joy of a newly-married couple. Check them out at her website.
If you're planning a wedding, contact Nancy Gentile in our office. Our French Church is available for ceremonies. Deyo Hall is perfect for rehearsal dinners and the Deyo House lawn is a great setting for an outdoor reception. We can also help connect with other Huguenot Street venues such as Locust Tree Inn and the Reformed Church of New Paltz. Make it a Huguenot Street wedding! | |

HHS In Spotlight On Northeast Public Radio Site
If you listen to WAMC Northeast Public Radio, you may have noticed that Historic Huguenot Street has been mentioned often this year.
HHS became an underwriter earlier this year, a move that allows us to promote HHS and our events to an audience that stretches from western Massachusetts to the Capital Region and down to the lower Hudson Valley. We're also featured online. To see our spotlight, click here. |
