Weapons of the Spirit Movies on the Lawn:
Thursday, August 20th, 8pm
Enjoy the best of summer with a double-feature on the Deyo House Lawn.  We'll start with Across the River, a short film about young George Washington -- part of which was filmed in our own Harcourt Preserve!  We'll follow that up with Weapons of the Spirit, the incredible true story of a small village in France, populated by Huguenot descendents, that saved 3,000 Jews during World War II.  Originally scheduled to be earlier in the season.  Raindate:  Thursday, August 27th.  $5 suggested donation.  Supervised activities for children.  Bring a blanket, picnic or a lawn chair and enjoy.
GorgetArchaeology Field School Wraps Up
The Archaeology Field School at the State University of New York at New Paltz has finished.  This program, under the direction of Professor Joe Diamond, has over the years led to the discovery of significant artifacts and expanded our understanding of Native American and early Huguenot history on the site.  This summer was no exception.  Among the artifacts found was this Native American gorget.  Stay tuned for more information in our fall newsletter.
