Shutters Return to Terwilliger House
Shutters on the Terwilliger HouseThe Historic Preservation crew at HHS recently completed work on the shutters of the Terwilliger House at Locust Lawn.  Many of the shutters required extensive restoration; others needed to be recreated.  The shutters have been reinstalled using the existing vintage and reproduction wrought iron hardware and are painted in the popular green once featured on many of the houses at Historic Huguenot Street.  Visit Terwilliger House and the Josiah Hasbrouck House at Locust Lawn weekends at 2pm for our special Curator's Tours.

Archaeology Returns to the Street; Special Archaeology Day on 7/25
What Lies BeneathThe Archaeology Field School of the State University of New York at New Paltz has returned.  A fixture on the Street for the past several summers, students under the direction of Professor Joseph Diamond are continuing their quest in the lawn between the Deyo and Bevier-Elting Houses.  At the same time, Archaeology Camp for kids continues next week.

HHS is offering a unique opportunity to our friends and members of the public to get in on the archaeology action.  Saturday, July 25th is Archaeology Day.  Working with our professional on-site archaeologist, participants will be part of a "live" dig, learning how we use the clues left buried in the ground to learn more about our history.  A great, hands-on workshop.  9am to 4pm.  Two sessions.  Ages 12 and up:  $25 per session or $40 for both.  There is no charge for children under 12 with a parent.  Reserve for the whole day or just the morning or afternoon.  The afternoon session is specially geared for families with young children.  To get more information or to register:
