New Certificate Program

STEP has developed a new certificate program for those  students who wish to deepen their knowledge in a specific area of Catholic Theology.  Areas of concentration include: 1. Doctrine; 2. Scripture; 3. Liturgy; 4. Ethics and Morality; 5. Church History.

Each area certificate requires a Greg techcombination of STEP courses, assigned readings and essay writing and will be coordinated by Greg Doyle, STEP's Associate Director.  The program includes directed readings from the selected subject area, individual tutorial, and will require a final synthetic paper based upon an agreed upon thesis.

We e-mailed course participants who had already taken at least five STEP courses and had likely satisfied the prerequisites for each area's certificate.  We had a quick and enthusiastic response, telling us that this type of programing is a positive development in STEP's service to the Church.

Within a few days, we reached our registration capacity for the 2010- 2011 year.  Greg will be working with five individuals.  We opened registration for the 2011-2012 academic year and are brainstorming ideas on how to expand the program to accommodate more students next year.
