The Mill at NightGreetings~

It's hard to believe that Autumn has arrived already and the holidays are just around the corner!   Don't worry, though - you still have plenty of time to shop and we can help.  Keep us in mind for one-of-a-kind gifts...we're sure we have just the perfect thing for more than one special person in your life.  As always, our inventory is varied and fantastic.  From antique and vintage jewelry to beautiful pottery, glassware, and silver; unique furniture to art and rugs; linens and lace to carousel horses and sports memorabilia...and so much in between that you probably haven't thought of.  No matter what you or your gift recipients collect or love,  chances are, we have it at the Antique Center.  But if you're looking for a 19th century Vampire Killing Kit (and who isn't?), sorry...it's already gone to a good (or gory!) home - proof positive that the time to buy that unique treasure is when you find it!

Don't miss our current display of vintage Gas Pumps and related Signs (pictures and info below).   In November, the display will change  to Model Trains...that ought to take some of you back.  The Gas Pumps will be up until October 31 and the trains will stay up throughout November and December.  Both dealers, Severn Gas Pumps and Parsons Crossing also have retail spaces at The Antique Center.

As always, we'd love to see you at our Holiday Open House on November 19 & 20...sales and goodies should never be passed up!

Enjoy!

A Little Nostalgia at The Antique Center

Severn Gas Pumps & Restoration is "restoring America's past" one gas pump at a time.  Not just gas pumps, though.  In addition to the pumps ranging in era from the 1900's to the 1960's, Severn Gas Pumps and Restoration offers a diverse inventory of great vintage signs, gas station air meters, and collectible clocks.  As their name suggests, they also restore these gems of Americana.  Check out their website, www.severngaspumps.com, to see some cool pictures.  Even better, stop by the Antique Center and check out some of these beauties in person.  Severn Gas Pumps is all set up in our display area until October 31...you must see it!  And be sure to visit their new booth, V-6,  at the Antique Center...

Did You Know?

The present incarnation of Halloween  borrows traditions from four different festivals throughout history.  These include the Roman "Feralia", honoring the dead; the Roman "Pomona" festival honoring the goddess of fruit and trees; the Celtic festival of "Samuin" which celebrates the end of summer, and the Catholic "Hallowmas"  period of All Saints' Day.  The name Halloween comes from the Middle English "All Hallows Eve" which was shortened to Hallowwe'en, and then to Halloween in the 20th. Century.
