   Mike Conners was elected Albany County Comptroller in 1995 and continues to serve in that capacity. Some of his major accomplishments include spearheading reforms at the Capital Region OTB, saving over $34 million in debt service at the Albany County Airport, instituting GASB-compliant accounting practices, and instituting hotel/motel audits which have generated new revenue for Albany County.  Join us to hear Mike's thoughts on how to build a successful career. Mary Peck, Director of Internal Control at OMRDD, will interview Mike.

Audio Conference: Next Steps in Accountability & Control Over Recovery Funds

This program will focus on the next steps for ensuring transparency, accountability and control over Recovery Act funds. As funds begin to be obligated and disbursed under the Recovery Act, the focus is turning to implementing risk management plans, and developing processes, systems and controls to comply with reporting requirements.

Our panelists will discuss risk management plans and approaches at the Federal agency level, the new OMB reporting requirements, efforts underway at the State and local level to prepare for such accountability and transparency, and other issues raised during the course on AGA's ongoing research project related to Recovery Act implementation.

To discuss the issues and challenges are Marcia Pauli, Chief Financial Officer, Office of Justice Programs, U.S. Department of Justice; John Radford, CGFM, CIA, CFE, Controller, State of Oregon; Daniel I. Werfel, Deputy Controller, Office of Federal Financial Management, U.S. Office of Management and Budget; and David M. Zavada, CPA, Partner, Kearney and Company, P.C.

AGA Night at "The Joe"

When: Friday, August 21st
 
Where: Joe Bruno Stadium, Troy
 
Time: 6:00 PM - All You Can Eat Pre-Game Picnic; 7:00 PM - Tri-City Valley Cats vs Staten Island Yankees
 
Cost:  $18 for Adults and $15 for children ages 3 - 12 (cost includes all you can eat pre-game picnic, souvenir hat, ticket to the game and fireworks show); $5 for children under 3 who will have their own seat; free for children under 3 who will sit on the lap of an adult.

Join your AGA colleagues for a night of baseball, food and fireworks!  Bring your friends, family and co-workers to enjoy a pre-game all you can eat picnic and watch the Tri-City Valley Cats play the Staten Island Yankees.
 
The All You Can Eat Pre-Game picnic, includes grilled hamburgers, hot dogs, assorted salads, chips, watermelon, soda and water. It starts at 6 pm. The picnic area is the left field concourse.
 
The game, featuring the Tri-City Valley Cats and the Staten Island Yankees starts at 7 pm, with fireworks to follow.

Pop-A-Top - Can Tab Collection
Can Tabs needed!!  The AGA NY Capital Chapter is collecting aluminum tabs from cans to benefit the Shriners Hospitals. 
 
Please save your soda can tabs (Pop A Top) for our next widely attended AGA event to support the Shriners.
