Happy belated holiday to everyone who celebrated in the past weeks! I think I need a vacation now, and I didn't even have to cook. Everyone can be thankful for that.
Our Marsha Neal Studio trunk show begins today and will end Saturday, 04/17/10. For those of you unfamiliar with Marsha Neal's work, she is a Delaware native who makes porcelain jewelry components by hand. She uses her own hand drawn designs influenced by nature and her past life as an entomologist. Please see the photos below.
Last year Marsha began having her original designs printed on scarves. We have 25 of Marsha's cotton scarves in stock for the trunk show. They were originally $22 and they are on sale for $17. They are really cool - I have one that I got last year from her and they are perfect for any weather. They are very soft cotton (about 8 feet long) with a raw edge that curls. It feels like a cozy old t-shirt, but looks way more stylish. The colors and prints vary from her Flower Cluster, Spiraling Tree, and Triple Flower design. For anyone who likes my scarf, there is a fuchsia one in the bunch like it that has the Spiraling Tree print.
We've carried Marsha's textured porcelain pendant line since we opened 5.5 years ago. There are very interesting designs, including my favorite - spirals - and they are colorful. Marsha sent us a lot of her small pendants pairs, which we all love for earrings. Her pieces vary in price from $14 - $20. We also have several hundred extra 2mm washed silk cords on hand for $3 each. These work great with a pendant to make a quick necklace.
Last year Marsha introduced a new technique of applying decals to the bisque porcelain pieces before they're glazed. The end result is really cool - a permanent decal on each piece. There are birds, flowers, bees, etc., all reminiscent of Marsha's love for the outdoors. So come down and see Marsha's new art work before the trunk show ends next Saturday at 6 PM!
For those of you unfamiliar with trunk shows: A trunk show occurs when we sell merchandise on behalf of a vendor. After the trunk show ends, the inventory is returned to the vendor. It allows us to bring new and different options to our customers that we may not normally stock. We try to schedule them frequently to keep things interesting.
Because we don't own trunk show inventory, it cannot be discounted. Busy Beader, bead society discounts, and Ambler Coupons may only be used on Reed's Beads inventory during a trunk show. |

The April class schedule is posted on our website. For those of you who have asked, we have our Mother's Bracelet class scheduled 3 times this month since Mother's Day is coming up. We will also be hosting an Art Clay Silver demo this Saturday 04/10/10 from 2-3PM if you've never seen how it's used to make fine silver jewelry.
