IT'S GIRL SCOUT COOKIE TIME

A couple of months ago the familiar colorful forms showed up in the coffee room. Emails were sent and even Facebook was used for online orders as viral marketing at its best went to work for the annual Girl Scout cookie sale. According to a story in the Grand Rapids Press this week, the cookie sale puts $750 million into the Girl Scouts' kitty nationwide. Have you ever stopped to think about what makes them so successful?

1. They're connected - you have to buy cookies from your daughter, niece, granddaughter, neighbor - or your family member/friend will frown upon you. (emotional appeal)
