Alumni Board of Directors Update |
The Alumni BOD is getting ramped up for a busy spring helping the college community. This is a busy time of year for the school. Admissions is making the final push for the Class of 2012, and we help support this push by attending the President's Accepted Students Receptions. We mingle with prospective accepted students and their parents to help promote the positive aspects of a Nichols education and all it represents. The BOD coordinates its April meeting with one of these events to help make sure we have enough support for Admissions.
While on family vacation in March in Florida I was able to be part of two great events. The first was an Alumni Reception in Sarasota, hosted by Bill Fowler '49. The other was an event that involved an alumnus at Walt Disney World's Magic Kingdom. On March 21st Lt. Col. Tom Devine, who recently returned from Afghanistan, was the Official Veteran of the Day at the Magic Kingdom, Tom's wife Lisa (also an alumn) arranged for her husband to be part of the Flag Retreat Ceremony at the Magic Kingdom, a daily ritual where the American Flag is lowered. They were accompanied by their three children, Jessica, Emily, and Katie. My family and I had the honor of being present for the ceremony and were excited to be there.

Nichols LinkedIn Group
We have created a group for Nichols constituents to join on the LinkedIn community! If you are not familiar with LinkedIn, please visit the website to gain a better understanding. In short, it is an online networking website for professionals to "link" together with current and former classmates, professors, co-workers, acquaintances and others looking to network. Now it is even easier to find and communicate with Nichols alumni and staff on the site with the use of our new group. If you would like to join, visit this link: Join LinkedIn Group and click the Join This Group button! |

Alumni Mentor Program
Business savvy alumni now have another way to give back to our students and to develop a first rate career-based alumni network from the ground up.
The Alumni Mentor Program links Nichols alumni with students to build a career support network. First year students are mentored by a team of both a junior student and a Nichols graduate. The teams are based on interests, majors, and career path expectations. Our fall semester reception was well attended and we hope to continuously grow the program year to year. Our spring reception was held on April 17th.
If you are interested in volunteering for this program contact us at: alumnioffice@nichols.edu or toll free at 1-866-622-4766.
