Dear Alumni,

Happy new year!

There are many new and exciting alumni programs and events planned for 2008.  Look for receptions in Florida, Boston and Worcester and engage with our students through the Alumni Mentor Program. There is no better time to reconnect with Nichols and become an active part of the community.

Best wishes for a great 2008.

Sincerely,
Cullivan Signature

Distinguished Alumni Leadership Series Continues

Anderson

Keith Anderson '81, Vice Chairman and Global CIO for Fixed Income at BlackRock Financial, spoke under the Distinguished Alumni Leadership Forum at Nichols on Monday, November 26, 2007. With $1.3 trillion in assets under management, BlackRock is one of Wall Street's hottest firms.

Mr. Anderson, a member of the National Association for Business Economics, advises Congress on the effect of economic policy on the economy and on how developments such as the current "sub-prime crisis" are expected to play out.

keith andersonMr. Anderson divided his talk between his day-to-day work in the bond industry, where he manages a multi-billion-dollar portfolio of investments, and his career. Upon graduation from Nichols he went to Rice University for an MBA.

Mr. Anderson imparted gentle wisdom to his audience of finance, economics and accounting majors as well as faculty, staff and alumni. Among his advice: seek experiences beyond your immediate environment and travel abroad. keith andersonMr. Anderson also advised students to work professionally between earning an undergraduate degree and pursuing an MBA.

He left the students with some very positive thoughts by informing them that the best gift Nichols gave him was teaching him "how to learn," stating that this has been an invaluable tool throughout his career.

Be sure to check the website for spring semester leadership forum dates. Peter L. Lynch '74, President, Chairman & CEO of Winn Dixie & Robert E. Stansky '78, Group Leader of Fidelity will be sharing their expertise with us as we continue to celebrate the success of Nichols alumni leaders.

2008 Alumni Directory Published

The 2008 alumni directory was published in late December. We contracted with Harris Connect publishing company this year to obtain and compile the updated contact information of our 9,000+ alumni into a functional directory organized geographically, by class year, and by industry for a career networking section. Many alumni who are looking for networking opportunities or to reconnect with former classmates and friends have found the directory to be very useful.

As always, if you are simply looking to reconnect with a few classmates we are happy to help you do so.

Alumni Board of Directors Update

Robbie Munce

Military Outreach Program

The Nichols College Alumni Board of Directors has launched an outreach program to alumni who are currently serving or recently returned from active military service overseas.

Under the Military Outreach Program, President Debra Townsley and the Board will send letters to deployed service people and to alumni who have recently returned from service.

We hope that our contact list will grow through this effort and ask for your assistance.

If you have information on alumni currently serving or recently returned, please contact the Nichols College Office of Alumni Relations. Information will be forward to the Alumni Board of Directors.

 Alumni Mentor Program

The Alumni Mentor Program (AMP) held its winter meeting in November where new student and alumni partnerships met for the first time.

This was the first of two meetings that the program has every year. There are currently over 50 total participants and we are always looking for more alumni to serve as mentors.
