Dear Friends of Corazon de Vida; Everyday I am reminded of how blessed I am to have your participation, commitment and your love for the children we support. Corazon de Vida was born over 15 years ago out of my own deep sense of gratitude and desire to give back. Today, CDV exists solely through YOUR unwavering commitment and support. Corazon de Vida Foundation provides life sustaining support to orphaned and abandoned children in Baja. Life sustaining means regular on-going support for their basic survival needs, such as food, clothing, shelter, etc. We believe that taking kids from the streets and placing them in safe housing, improving the quality of their lives and focusing on education will ensure a promising future for them. If you have had the opportunity to visit the children during our regular visits to the orphanages, you have seen first hand the importance of the work we do. You have witnessed a frightened little boy on his first week at an orphanage flourish into a vivacious and inquisitive child upon your return to the orphanage. Over the years, you have been humbled by a group of kids that can outplay you in the soccer or basketball matches. You have seen a cute little girl transformed into a beautiful teenager full of life and dreams. Your financial contributions change the lives of these children. YOU make a remarkable difference. As we end the year and enter into 2010, we have reaffirmed our pledge to support the orphanages and ease the burden of the directors and staff members who selflessly give of themselves to care for the children. The weight of this responsibility on their shoulders is heavy. The daily worries of whether they will be able to feed their kids tomorrow? Will they have a roof over their heads next week? Will the kids be able to attend school? CDV's on-going support helps lighten that burden so they can focus on providing love, guidance and opportunities to the children. I ask for your help to increase the number of monthly committed sponsors. If you have not signed up as a monthly sponsor, please consider signing up today. La Fonda on Wilshire
Thursday December 17, La Fonda on Wilshire Blvd is having an evening of wonderful food, laughter, and music by Mariachi Monumental de America and a DJ playing whatever we want. Bring a NEW article of clothing for a child or teenager for entry and help us make the holidays brighter for our kids. Holiday Trip Update
On Saturday, December 5, 150 volunteers woke up early, hopped on a bus and traveled to Baja to visit many children. We delivered gifts, supplies, food, a delicious lunch, and most of all, a message to the children that CDV and its donors, sponsors and friends will make sure that they are given a chance to change their lives. By the end of the day, everyone was exhausted and tired but one thing was for certain - they gave us much more than what we possibly could have given them. The children of the HACIENDA, EL FARO and DOOR OF FAITH orphanages thanks everyone who attended and they look forward to our next visit.
Donors and volunteers raised over $19,000 in support of their visit. We have a goal to raise $75,000 by the end of the year. Please create your very own online pledge page and send the link it creates to everyone in your address book. A little effort will make a big difference.

How You Can Help
Medical and Dental Teams
In 2009, CDV performed medical missions at the Ebenezer and Hacienda orphanages. Doctors, nurses, pharmacists, medical assistants, residents, medical students, translators and other support staff helped the children and staff with their many health needs. Children do not see doctors unless they are in pain so these trips are very important. If you are a medical professional who would like to participate, please email george@corazondevida.org. We need funds to pay for transportation costs and other fees. If you can help, please click HERE.
We also need help with the overwhelming dental needs of the children. We have dentists in Tijuana and Ensenada who are willing to give us their services at cost, but with so many children in need, this is an overwhelming amount. Please consider donating to our dental fund by clicking HERE.
Goodshop
If you plan to do your Holiday shopping online to avoid the crowded malls, parking lots, traffic, and short tempers, do your buying online in your pajamas and help us raise money. GOODSHOP gives to CDV a percentage of your order purchase if you enter the online store via GOODSHOP and select Corazon de Vida as the charity you support. All major online stores are participating and will not increase the cost of your purchase. GOODSHOP for CDV, help feed your kids.
